Mathematical analysis, also known as advanced calculus, is the oldest and most basic branch of analytical science. Generally speaking, it refers to a relatively complete mathematical subject with the general theory of calculus and infinite series as the main content, including their theoretical basis (basic theory of real number, function and limit). It is also a basic course for college mathematics majors. The branch of analysis in mathematics is a branch of mathematics that specializes in studying real numbers and complex numbers and their functions. Its development began with calculus and extended to the continuity, differentiability and integrability of functions. These characteristics help us to study the material world and discover the laws of nature.
The contents of advanced mathematics include: function and limit, unary function calculus, vector algebra and spatial analytic geometry, multivariate function calculus, series, ordinary differential equations and so on.
Although the two contents overlap, there are also many differences.
1. As far as the breadth of knowledge is concerned, advanced mathematics has more contents and wider breadth than mathematical analysis.
2. But for calculus, the depth of mathematical analysis is much higher than that of advanced mathematics.
3. Mathematical analysis focuses more on the derivation process, while advanced mathematics focuses more on the application of results.
