What social problems do the smell of rice flowers reflect?
The smell of rice flowers is a small film. This is not a criticism of it, but it does not try to talk about any grand proposition in the image, nor does it try to hide anything for people to explore. It presents all this on the surface of the image with a quiet and peaceful attitude.

An audience at the film scene put forward a very interesting statement, "The output per unit area of this film is not high." This is indeed an outsider's statement, but it makes sense. Many pictures in the movie are really simple and have little information. What you see is what the director wants to express, so you don't have to worry about missing any details. This is something that young directors rarely do. Most people choose to "hide", while director Pengfei chooses to "release", which is particularly difficult.

This is a story about left-behind children. Mother Ye Nan quit her job and went back to the village to live with her daughter for a while. After the mother came back, she was eager to chat with her daughter and quickly connect with her feelings. But of course it's not that easy. Girls always wrap themselves in the quilt, and finally there is only a sigh of "it is better to listen".

The director's intention becomes clear, and the film is about emotion. However, what will be the final direction of this feeling is still a problem here.

A pair of estranged mother and daughter, it is not easy to get along at first. More and more mothers find their daughters stubborn and misbehaving. Parents of left-behind children think that they can get their children's hope by going out to work hard, but many times children lack care at the most important stage of their lives and it is difficult to get back on track. This is what the film expressed in the initial stage.

The problem seems to be not only the mother's disappointment with her daughter, but also the fact that her daughter's rural life has not been accepted by her mother. A traditional village that believes deeply in religion and deities is hostile to foreign cultures, so there are all kinds of criticisms against Ye Nan in the village, and my daughter certainly heard them.

Girls have no concept of the outside world and no yearning. She thinks childhood is life in the village. The long-term lack of love has made her learn to fill herself with other things, such as stealing. She was confused by her mother.

At this level, the film uses a lot of light comedy jokes to present a different group of left-behind children.

Children who are addicted to mobile games will also go to temples to surf the Internet with Wi-Fi, which seems to point out the common problems of contemporary children, but I didn't expect this trend to spread to remote mountainous areas.

Of course, more importantly, they have no consciousness of left-behind children, no sadness and desire, just like ordinary urchins, they just changed their life picture. I think it is inappropriate to call them left-behind children in the context of movies.

This is not only the true form of children in the eyes of directors, but also the calmness and happiness that real life should have.

Girls and friends stole money from the temple and went to the game hall to play games in the middle of the night. Mom found them. It seems that an explosion drama is coming. Just as I was about to accept the climax of the plot, the fire went out.

Mother poked her head at two children who were addicted to games, quietly observed for a while, bought a pack of cigarettes and went back to the car. Mother chose not to disturb the children, the director chose not to disturb the audience, everyone was quiet, time passed quietly and mother fell asleep.

In my opinion, this is the most brilliant scene in film processing, and it also makes the meaning of "release" manifest.

This may be the beginning of reconciliation between mother and daughter, and what happens afterwards will lead to the final reconciliation.

The daughter's theft was discovered and the mother and daughter were taken away by the public security bureau's car. Meanwhile, her daughter's friend was seriously ill. The police car passed by the battery car carrying a seriously ill girl, and the two cars were in parallel. One is to try missing girls, and the other is to save lives. This is the direct intersection of good and evil, life and death. But at this moment, my mother looked at the battery car outside the window, no longer calm, eager to escape.

There is a silent treatment here. Mother's heart is very depressed. She felt that she didn't belong here anymore, so she got off the bus, drove her car and fled to the newly-built airport at the foot of the mountain.

This may confuse some viewers. We expected mom's behavior after getting off the bus, but she didn't do anything, just walked to the foot of the mountain and came back (this was related to the little girl at the beginning). In the director's words, there is not much room for explanation, but the mother is unhappy, dissatisfied with her daughter and the status quo and wants to escape.

We still hold the inherent cognition and look forward to the climax. But this movie obviously doesn't want to cater to the audience. This is not a challenge to us, but let us calm down and accept the simplicity of life.

The arrival of death may be the only influence of this film. It's so sudden, just because life is like this. This is also affecting girls. She didn't accept the death of her friend. Death is a strange concept to her, and she is not prepared to accept this sadness at all.

This may be the most important thing to change the relationship between mother and daughter, but there are some questions about how it changed. Perhaps in a little bit, the emotion has reached the running-in and the reconciliation has been completed, but here I feel that the film lacks a little more detailed portrayal, which makes it difficult for me to accept the completion of reconciliation for a while. The emotional barrier is broken bit by bit in the continuous impact of one thing, and finally presents a beautiful gesture of integration. What is missing is a complete integration process, which may be a problem.

"Mi Hua" is not a large number of images in movies, but it has already penetrated into every corner of life. Therefore, the smell of rice flowers is the taste of life, which is roughly the same as that of saury and tea soaked rice.

Mother and daughter are frying the same piece of rice flowers and dancing the same dance in the cave. Whether it is life or imagination, it is a very beautiful scene.

Light and shadow outline the movements of people in cave wall paintings, and strike the peace of people's hearts together with the water flow.
