Nobel did not set up a mathematics prize for the following reasons:

First, Nobel did not foresee the powerful role of mathematics in the world at that time, which was caused by the limitations of the times. /kloc-In the middle of the 0/9th century, mathematics and chemistry were not connected, they were two independent disciplines. Mathematics, as a basic science, has not been taken seriously. Nobel did not expect the great contribution of mathematics to the future scientific community, so he gave up the mathematics prize at the beginning of the establishment of the Nobel Prize. At that time, there was already an influential prize in the field of mathematics, called the Scandinavian Prize. Nobel believes that since we have this famous prize, there is no need to set up a math prize.

Second, Nobel said in his will, what are the main bonuses? Reward those inventions and discoveries that are of great benefit to mankind. Here, I ask the executor to dispose of the remaining property I can realize in the following ways: convert the above property into cash, and then make safe and reliable investment; Use this fund to establish a foundation, and the interest generated by the fund will be awarded annually to those who have made outstanding contributions to mankind in the previous year. Divide this interest into five equal parts and distribute it as follows: one is awarded to the person who has made the most important discovery or invention in the physical world; One prize is awarded to the person who has made the most important discovery or improvement in chemistry; A prize is awarded to those who have made the most important discoveries in the fields of medicine and physiology; An award is awarded to those who have created the best works with ideal tendency in the literary world; The last prize is awarded to those who have done their best or made the greatest contribution to promoting national unity and friendship, abolishing or reducing the standing army, and organizing and publicizing the peace conference. The science and chemistry prize is awarded by the Swedish Academy of Science in Stockholm; The prize for medicine and physiology is awarded by Caroline Medical College in Stockholm; The literature prize is awarded by Stockholm Academy of Literature; The Peace Prize is awarded by a five-member committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Therefore, as an inventor and industrialist, Nobel decided not to set up a mathematics prize, probably because he was not interested in mathematics.

Thirdly, abstract mathematics is not closely related to Nobel's career of invention and discovery, which is one of the reasons why Nobel did not set up a mathematics prize.
