With your great help, the Mathematics Competition of Qiu Chengtong University was successfully held twice. The competition has played a very good role in strengthening the cultivation of undergraduate students in mathematics and selecting outstanding mathematics reserve talents. The contest has promoted the thinking of the reform of mathematics education in various schools, and the selected outstanding students have also been recognized by major mathematical institutions at home and abroad. In order to make the competition more effective, we urge you to give us your valuable opinions on the organization and content of the competition.

1) Competition date: The written test is planned for the first weekend of July, and the oral test is planned for the first weekend of August. The written test time of 20 12 is July 1 2, and the oral test time is August 4 and 5.

2) Competition content: According to everyone's opinions, applied mathematics and probability statistics are divided into two subjects for testing respectively. Whether the outline of each subject in the competition is correct or not is welcome to give your valuable opinions.

3) Competition test questions: After two competitions, you are welcome to express your opinions on the difficulty and breadth of the test questions in each subject. The content of the examination is still subject to the requirements of doctoral qualification examinations in major foreign universities, and it is hoped that the award-winning students will come from more schools.

4) Organization and procedure of the competition: Fairness, impartiality and openness are the basic principles that the competition should follow. The competition was organized by China Academy of Sciences in cooperation with universities at home and abroad. Participating universities will avoid their own candidates when marking papers, and the members of the oral examination Committee will try to come from overseas. Please let us know if there are any improvements in organization and procedures.

It is our common wish to raise the mathematics education and research in China to the international first-class level. Selecting and cultivating outstanding mathematics reserve talents is one of the important links.
