General introduction

I am a third-year master student majoring in automation in China Shanghai Jiaotong University. I have a strong interest in industrial engineering, so I am writing to apply for admission to your doctoral program.

Education background 1995, I entered Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Technology (NUST)-widely regarded as one of the best engineering schools in China. In the next undergraduate study, my academic performance maintained excellent results in the whole department. I win the first prize every semester, and my total GPA(89.5/ 100) ranks 1 among13 students. 1999, I got the privilege of entering the graduate program without test. I chose Shanghai Jiaotong University to continue my research, because it enjoys a high reputation in combination optimization and network scheduling, which is also my research interest.

During my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked in the top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became a teaching assistant, which is specially for talented and mature students. This year, as the only candidate in our department, I won the Acer Scholarship, which is the highest honor awarded by our school to outstanding students. At present, I am preparing my graduation thesis and striving for the honor of excellent graduation thesis.

Research experience and academic activities.

When I was a sophomore, I joined the AI Fans Association and began to narrow my interest for my future research. In 1997, I participated in the development of the simulation tool of Professor Wang's laboratory scheduling system. Using OpenGL and Matlab as tools, the simulation program of transportation scheduling system is designed. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. On 1998, I assumed and completed a sewage analysis & treatment project of Nanjing Sewage Treatment Plant. This is the first time that I have turned my lab idea into a commercial product.

In 1999, I joined the research group of the famous professor Xi, and devoted myself to the research of network flow problem solving and heuristic algorithm. Soon I participated in the design of Fudan gene database. My job is to extract useful information from different kinds of gene matching formats. Through the comparison and analysis of various heuristic algorithms, an improved evolutionary algorithm-multi-population genetic algorithm is introduced. By dividing the whole population into several sub-populations, this improved algorithm can effectively prevent the genetic algorithm from falling into local convergence and promote various evolutionary directions. It is also proved that it is more effective than SGA in experiments. In the second semester, I participated in the workshop scheduling research of Shanghai Heavy Tire Factory. The plan is designed for the rubber manufacturing process, including not only discrete cases, but also continuous cases. In order to find a balance between optimization quality and time cost, a dynamic hierarchical scheduling method based on hybrid Petri net is proposed. The practical application shows that the average completion time is greatly shortened. I also published two papers in core journals with this idea. Recently, I used data mining technology to study the comprehensive forecasting of power system in Baosteel. I try to combine decision tree with rolling optimization to provide a new solution for compound forecasting problem. This project is under construction now.
