Implementation tool: Microsoft Office Document Imaging included in Office 2003.

Application scenario: At present, many foreign software support information is published in PDF format. You can't view its contents without Adobe Reader, and you can't edit PDF files without relevant editing software. Converting to DOC format can realize editing function. Although some softwares can also convert PDF into DOC, many do not support Chinese. Using the Microsoft Office Document Imaging component in Office 2003 is the most convenient way for us to achieve this requirement.

How to use:

Step 1: First open the PDF file to be converted with Adobe Reader, and then select File → Print menu. In the opened print setting window, set the name in the printer column as "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer". After confirmation, the PDF file is output as a virtual print file in MDI format.

Tip: If the item "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" is not found in the drop-down list of name setting, it proves that this component was not installed when installing Office 2003. Please use Add/Remove Components on the Office 2003 installation CD to update and install this component.

Step 2: Run Microsoft Office Document Imaging and use it to open the MDI file you just saved. Select the menu "Tools → Send Text to Word" and check "Keep the picture layout unchanged when outputting" in the pop-up window. After confirmation, the system prompts "You must rerun OCR before performing this operation. This may take some time ",whatever it is, just confirm it.

Editor's Note: At present, the recognition rate of all software including this tool for converting PDF into DOC is not particularly perfect, and the original typesetting format will be lost after conversion, so manual typesetting and proofreading are needed after conversion.
