It is appropriate to set up such a major in the powerful Tsinghua Mathematics Department, so that the development of the two majors can complement each other. The major of information and computing science is based on mathematics, takes information as the object, takes computers as the tool, faces high technology, emphasizes keen mathematical thinking and good mathematical cultivation, and cultivates forward-looking and pioneering information science talents. In the first and second grade, I am proficient in computer programming and the use of mathematical software while studying several basic mathematics courses. The undergraduate training program of the Department of Mathematics not only lays a solid foundation, but also provides students with a broad space for autonomous learning, in which mathematics courses are divided into three levels. Compulsory courses include seven courses in mathematical analysis, algebra and number theory, geometry and topology, and the study time is flexible. The basic course of mathematics includes 13 courses, involving all branches of mathematics, including the course "Modern Mathematics Topics". This course actually includes about 20 topics, which introduces the general situation of modern algebra branches and provides opportunities for close contact and communication with professors, which stimulates students' interest and helps to determine the future learning direction. Students can meet the requirements by choosing 7 courses in 13. Mathematics courses are divided into six series, including analysis series, algebra series, geometry series, stochastic mathematics department, scientific calculation and operation series, information and computer series, and nearly 40 courses. Students can choose 10- 12 courses according to their professional orientation to meet the requirements. The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a special reference room and computer laboratory. There are more than 100 kinds of major mathematical journals in the world and dozens of domestic mathematical journals in the reference room. The computer laboratory has advanced 32-node parallel computers and nearly 100 high-configuration computers for the students of this department.
With the advent of the information society, people are increasingly aware that strict mathematical training can provide a solid foundation for development, profound mathematical knowledge and broad development space. In recent years, the number of first-choice applicants in the Department of Mathematics has been rising year after year, and the admission scores have reached record highs.
