1999
For the first time since 2004 1949, a public military parade was held outside the National Day (August 1 Sunday) and Beijing (Hong Kong).
2009
People from all walks of life in the capital celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC).
This military parade will show 56 square teams, representing 56 ethnic groups to unite as one. The 56 parade teams include 14 trekking team, 30 equipment teams and 12 aerial echelon. Compared with the 1999 military parade, the overall scale has been reduced, the army team has been reduced, the navy, air force, the Second Artillery Corps and other arms have been added, and the high-tech and special forces team has been added, which reflects the transformation of the PLA from "manpower-intensive" to "technology-intensive". Most of the equipment referred to is new equipment or models exhibited for the first time, including early warning aircraft, new combat vehicles, new radars, drones and satellite communication equipment.
