First of all, I think there is something wrong with this post-artistic director's title. We all know that there are many kinds of "art", including music art, visual art, performance art, marketing art and the art of being a man. Therefore, judging from the name of the post of "artistic director", there is actually no professional attribute. My suggestions are more detailed, such as music direction, visual direction, design direction and special effects supervision. This way, when you guide everyone, everyone will know what to listen to.
Secondly, "the most important thing to be a tour guide is to be a man", I don't remember which predecessor's remarks were made. On second thought, it still makes sense. To give advice to a professional designer, he must be willing to listen. It means "service" if you like. We in China can't live without this word. From the perspective of modern management, there are two aspects: one is to make people "obey orders" by using power (or managing resources), and the other is to make people "convince" by using personal influence. These two aspects are very important. The use of power is implemented at the level of "formal organization" and personal charm is implemented at the level of "informal organization". People often say that China people "rule by man", while our traditional culture tends to the latter, but it often ignores the allocation of management resources. Some people have personal influence, but they are often in opposition. Some people are more "independent", but they are often in the DPRK. Of course, in today's "reform and opening up", the reverse phenomenon also exists. We don't want to criticize a certain phenomenon, but spend some time thinking about how to allocate these two management methods. Western management emphasizes the cooperation between them. On the premise that the theory of management resource allocation has been very perfect, people have been studying how to manage the "informal organization" within the enterprise organization. The latest example is the "IBM employee cancer incident" initiated by the "informal organization". Managing the "informal organization" within the enterprise is of great help to the enthusiasm of employees.
Third, our tradition is to have the concept of "mentoring" in working relations. "Master takes his apprentice" has two meanings, one is that the master should teach his apprentice what he knows, and the other is that the apprentice must listen to the master. The former is undoubtedly worth promoting from the perspective of helping employees; But the latter meaning, I personally think, will have some influence on "apprentices", especially in the creative industry. That at least has to become, under what circumstances the apprentice should listen to the master and under what circumstances he can not listen.
Again, let's talk about the workflow. Guidance should have clear authority and intervention mechanism. The corresponding work can be divided into two parts. Part of it is daily work; Part of it is the key work. In daily work, the role of guidance is to grasp the direction of creation within their own professional scope and supervise the effect of finished products, not specific to the production details of a film; The key work should start from the first link of creation and be deeply involved, from briefing to creativity to copywriting to design to production to shooting. You don't have to do it yourself, but you must guide it very carefully and give full play to the function of the director.
I think the suffix "director" is very inappropriate. Finance can have a director, administration can have a director, and creation cannot have a director. Design and artistic creation depend very much on the designer's personal quality and ability, and being supervised by one person as a whole is not necessarily conducive to creation. It's better to call it "guidance". If it means administration, it's called "chief engineer"! Therefore, there is no "director" in three people, and my personal positions are "vice president" (virtual) and "strategic guidance" (real). On an equal footing with many production directors, production designers and creative directors of the company, you can sit and work together, haha! Personally, I think the word "total" is a burden. People who have different opinions and are very persistent about it will inevitably take this as a fact ~ ~ and it will still have an impact on their work.
