Is information security good?
I am a sophomore majoring in information security in Tongji University. In my opinion, information security is a major that you need to make some efforts. It has some difficulties, but it has a good prospect. There is still a big gap in this respect. If you study hard, you are sure to achieve something.

Personal learning experience

In my opinion, information security is a very good and advantageous subject. Just because you want to study this major doesn't mean you choose those hackers because they are so cool. My suggestion is that if you are interested in mathematics or some knowledge in the security field, such as network vulnerability repair, then I strongly recommend you to major in information security.

To say which schools have better information security, we can check the ranking of domestic universities in various CTF (flag-winning competitions). My own information security major in Tongji University feels quite good, and my teachers are also very serious and responsible. My college recommends schools like Tsinghua, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Beihou University and xidian university, depending on your own wishes.

What is information security for?

? Information security is mainly an interdisciplinary subject of computer, mathematics, communication and other disciplines (as can be seen from the training program). Mainly to learn a science and technology to ensure information security, and then you can also engage in computer, communication, electronics and other fields.

From my own experience, this major covers a wide range, and you learn both software and hardware. You should not only have basic knowledge, but also find ways to practice it yourself, such as online packet interception, vulnerability scanning, and making security policies.

The classes of freshmen and sophomores are basically the same as those of statistics department.

Junior and senior students began to study in the field of security.

Information security major is mainly compared with computer science and technology major. In fact, the two are very similar, and there are many overlaps in the professional courses (my freshman and sophomore classes are basically with the Planning Department). But after the third and fourth years, Principal will be more inclined to the fields of software and security, and the design department will be more inclined to hardware.

What does information security learn?

First of all, they are all basic courses that everyone should learn, such as advanced mathematics, physics, English and so on. None of the students studying computer in our school needs to learn Chinese and chemistry.

Secondly, the professional basic courses studied with the Planning Department are mainly concentrated in freshmen and sophomores, such as object-oriented programming (learning C and C++), discrete mathematics, data structure, database, digital logic, computer composition principle, probability theory and mathematical statistics.

When I was a junior and a senior, my major and design were different, and I was more inclined to the fields of software and security, such as modern cryptography, security architecture, information security principles and so on. You can also look at my sophomore class schedule and main training plan.

Of course, in my opinion, the principal's course is still relatively difficult. Because it is an interdisciplinary subject, you have to take many miscellaneous courses, covering physics, mathematics, software and hardware. This requires you to make some efforts, not to say that you are waiting for a golden rice bowl when you enter this major.

What is the employment prospect of information security?

Judging from the situation in recent years, there is no need to worry about the employment of principals and students. The headmaster of our school recruits 30 people every year, and the employment rate over the years is 100%, and the treatment is good (after all, it belongs to the accounting category). It can be used for development or security in the future.

In some countries, industries that are the lifeblood of the economy, such as finance and communication, have paid more and more attention to information security in recent years.

In short, information security is a somewhat difficult major to learn, but as long as you pay, you will definitely get high returns. In my opinion, the principal major is still very good. If you are interested in this aspect, keep on cheering!
