China Mathematical Olympics (CMO) is a national winter camp for middle school students. China's top 60 players were selected for the IMO China National Training Team that year.
Sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society, this competition is the highest level, the largest scale and the most influential mathematics competition for middle school students in China. The organizer must be a municipality directly under the central government, a university directly under the provincial government or a key middle school with high-level teaching conditions in China and outstanding achievements in relevant discipline competitions.

The Olympiad originated from the mathematics competition for middle school students (1934- 1935) held by the former Soviet Union in Leningrad and Moscow at the beginning of last century, and was named Mathematical Olympics. It was not until 1959 that the first international Olympic Mathematics Competition was held in Bucharest that the Olympics really entered the world stage.
