The University of Southampton, with a doctorate no less than that of Peking University in Tsinghua, is one of the top ten research universities in Britain.

The vision of Southampton University is to change the world. Every year, some of the brightest and most diligent students from all over the world come to Southampton to study. There are about 22,000 students, including about14,400 undergraduates and about 7,600 graduate students. 34% of the students are international students from more than 30 different countries. Southampton University is also translated as "Southampton University". Its predecessor was Hartley College, which was founded in 1862 and funded by local philanthropist Mr. Hartley. Later, it became the affiliated college of University of London 1902.
