The College of Mathematics and Statistics was established in February 2002, and its predecessor, the Department of Mathematics, was established in the early 1950s. Looking back at the history of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, it can be traced back to Huazhong University in the 1930s. At that time, there was a math group tied to the department under the Faculty of Science. 1952 10 department adjustment, the mathematics department of Huazhong Normal University was formed by the merger of the mathematics discipline and the mathematics department of Hubei Institute of Education. Professor Li Xiumu, chairman of the first China Graph Theory Research Association and one of the founders of China Graph Theory, is the head of the department. School of Mathematics and Statistics (formerly Department of Mathematics) has gone through a history of more than 50 years, with the following presidents: Li Xiumu (1952- 1984) and Bai (executive vice president, 1960- 1 year). 1971-1973), sun qibiao (executive vice president,1977-1984), Wu kegan (1984-1) Successive Party branch secretaries include Zhu Donghe, Wei Zhenru, Zhang Hong, Wei, Li Yingkui, Hu Guangchun and Zhao Ligang. Successive party and government leaders have worked hard to lead the faculty of the whole hospital to unite and struggle, so that the College of Mathematical Statistics has developed step by step. The hospital now has four departments-mathematics and applied mathematics, accounting, statistics and information and computing science. Two research institutes-Institute of Financial Information Technology and Institute of Mathematics; A research room-transportation control research room; Two laboratories-nonlinear analysis laboratory and multimedia application and accounting laboratory; Editorial Department of Mathematics Communication.

It has five authorization points for master's degree, such as operational research and cybernetics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, basic mathematics, applied mathematics, curriculum and teaching theory (mathematics), 1 authorization point for doctor's degree in applied mathematics, and authorization points for master's degree in education (mathematics teaching theory) and master's degree in colleges and universities (applied mathematics), and is striving for authorization points for doctor's degree in basic mathematics and first-class master's degree in mathematics. In 20 12 years, there were more than 200 undergraduates, more than 220 master students and 0/2 doctoral students in our college.
