Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (hereinafter referred to as China Southern Airlines (NUAA)), located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is a comprehensive national key university with aerospace and civil aviation characteristics directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. It is a national "double-class" construction university. The national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Engineering Superiority Discipline Innovation Platform" have been selected into the national "1 1 Plan", the excellent engineer education and training plan, the national postgraduate plan for building a high-level university, the research and practice project of new engineering, the scholarship of China government for overseas students, and the whole country.

The school, formerly known as Nanjing Institute of Aeronautical Technology, was founded in June 1952, and is one of the earliest aviation institutions of higher learning in People's Republic of China (PRC).
