In Nanyang Girls' Middle School, the school adopts the core principles of social cognitive theory. Students must master the skills of self-verification of academic achievements and reflect on themselves according to their metacognitive ability, including their own behaviors, motivations and values. Therefore, the goal of the school is to cultivate students who know how to reflect, respond quickly and have a sense of responsibility: students have critical spirit and creative thinking, empathy, care about society and become highly respected by society.
The school deconstructs the social cognitive theory into the following five learning principles: all students have potential and know how to be proactive, self-reflective and self-regulating. Schools not only teach students the process of metacognition, but also give them opportunities for self-planning and management.
