Yantai Institute of Technology is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the education administrative department of the State Council.

The school was founded in 2003, formerly known as School of Literature and Economics of Yantai University. In February, 20021year, the Ministry of Education agreed to transform the College of Literature and Economics of Yantai University into Yantai Institute of Technology.

By April, 20021year, the school had successively won the titles of "Shandong University Student Entrepreneurship Education Demonstration College", "Shandong Education International Exchange and Cooperation Advanced Unit" and "Shandong University Dormitory Management Excellent Unit".

Honorary titles such as "Advanced Unit of Logistics Work in Colleges and Universities in Shandong Province" and "Advanced Unit of Campus Greening and Management in Colleges and Universities in Shandong Province" have won the "Outstanding Organization Award in Shandong Division of National College Students Mathematical Modeling and Electronic Design Competition" for 8 times.
