When they first met in 1928, Shen Congwen was 26 years old, then a teacher of Chinese Academy, while Zhang Zhaohe was only 18 years old. She was one of Professor Shen Congwen's female students and the beauty queen of China College at that time.
When they first met, although Shen Congwen had accumulated a certain reputation in the literary world, he was humble in school because he came from the rural areas of western Hunan and had a low education level, only a third-grade primary school education level. So when Shen Congwen pursued Zhang Zhaohe at that time, she ranked in Frog 13.
Because Shen Congwen wrote too many love letters to Zhang Zhaohe, Zhang Zhaohe angrily took his love letter to tell on Hu Shi, the principal at that time. When Zhang Zhaohe saw Hu Shi, he said, "It's disgusting. Please tell him not to write to me in the future. " As a good friend of Shen Congwen, Hu Shi said awkwardly, "But he stubbornly loves you." Zhang Zhaohe said unhappily, "But I stubbornly don't love him!"
Since Zhang Zhaohe stubbornly doesn't love him, why are they together again? It turned out that one of the gods assisted Hu Shi. Hu Shi has an excellent relationship with Zhang Zhaohe's father, Zhang Wuling. A few years later, Zhang Zhaohe was admitted by Hu Shi, head of the Chinese Department, with full marks in Chinese and zero marks in mathematics. Later, Hu Shi also introduced Zhang Zhaohe to the Central Daily as an editor. The main reason why Hu Shi linked Shen Congwen with Zhang Zhaohe is his understanding of Shen Congwen. He thought, "He (Shen Congwen) will be the best novelist in China".
With Hu Shi's efforts, Shen Congwen and Zhang Zhaohe finally came together.
/kloc-at the beginning of 0/930, Hu Shi resigned as the dean of Chinese Academy and went to Peking University to be a professor. 1930, Shen Congwen also left China College to teach at Qingdao University, and Zhang Zhaohe continued to study at China College, completing his university studies. Shen Congwen's feelings for Zhang Zhaohe continue to be reflected in his letters. Most of his letters in this period were later included in Congwenjiashu, which is a model of modern vernacular love letters.
In a letter dated June 193 1, he said that although many people were willing to be slaves of the king, he only wanted to be slaves of Zhang Zhaohe. These letters, on the one hand, express the feelings of lovesickness, on the other hand, are also the stage of Shen Congwen's writing skills advancing by leaps and bounds, and writing letters is probably his creative need.
1933 In the early spring, Shen Congwen wrote a letter to Zhang Zhaohe, in which he said diplomatically that he could ask his second sister to help him propose to his parents. And said, if parents agree, please Zhang Zhaohe telegram to him early, let him "country people also have a sweet bar".
First Hu Shi, now Zhang Yunhe has become the official matchmaker. On the issue of children's marriage, Zhang Zhaohe's father, Zhang Wuling, is a very open-minded person. The eldest daughter married Gu Chuanjun, because Gu was an actor, which caused great controversy at that time. Allow and betrothed to Zhou Youguang, at that time, but also is the children of ordinary people. Zhang Wuling also quickly agreed to Shen Congwen's proposal.
On September 9th, Shen Congwen and Zhang Zhaohe got married in Beijing Central Park. Shortly after the wedding, Shen Congwen returned to his hometown of Phoenix to visit because his mother was critically ill. In the cabin, he wrote to Zhang Zhaohe in Peiping, saying, "When I leave Peiping, I intend to write letters and articles for half a day. But when I get to this ship, I just want to write to you, and I can't do anything else. "
After receiving this letter, Zhang Zhaohe, who also missed Shen Congwen very much, wrote back to Shen Congwen. Next, let's take a look at this simple and warm letter written by Zhang Zhaohe to Shen Congwen.
This letter has been written for nearly a hundred years. When we can still feel Zhang Zhaohe's attachment and warmth to Shen Congwen at that time from this letter, it is a great pity that it was during Shen Congwen's return to Phoenix and the separation of husband and wife that he met Gao Qing Zi at his home in Xiong Xiling. After nearly ten years, he has maintained an ambiguous relationship with Gao. Also because of this extramarital affair, Zhang Zhaohe had a bad feeling towards Shen Congwen.
Shen Congwen's extramarital affairs didn't end until the third party quit. After leaving Gao, Shen Congwen wrote in Water Clouds: "Since' I (Qing) ran (Zi)' left me, there are only clouds to see in Yunnan."
However, after Gao left, the sublime did not forgive Shen Congwen, and finally there was a gap with Shen Congwen. Shen Congwen's novel Looking at the Rainbow, based on Gao, was criticized and paid more attention to this extramarital affair.
This kind of estrangement is easily perceived by the sensitive Shen Congwen. The more his wife is like this, the more ashamed he is of her. Because of this guilt, the last thing he said to his wife before he died was an apology. He said, "Third Sister, I'm sorry."
Also in this kind of apology, Zhang Zhaohe completely breathed a sigh of relief. After her husband died, she has been busy sorting out the complete works of Shen Congwen. In the meantime, she has put aside her bad feelings. After reading his works carefully and sorting out his life diaries, letters and materials, she finally got to know Shen Congwen comprehensively.
It is because of her thorough understanding that she wrote a long sigh in the postscript of Shen Congwen's letter. Such words are extremely emotional. In this postscript, Zhang Zhaohe wrote:
As can be seen from here, until this time, Zhang Zhaohe really completely put down all his bad feelings. Regarding the feelings of Zhang Zhaohe and Shen Congwen, someone once commented that Zhang Zhaohe was betrayed and never forgave. Is it too heartless?
But some people think that once feelings are betrayed, they will be broken. Now that it's broken, being together is kindness. Who can ask her to forgive? Some people say that if you don't know the sufferings of others, don't persuade others to be kind. Perhaps this sentence is also a true portrayal of Zhang Zhaohe's heart.
