On February 4, 2022 14, the Ministry of Education announced the second round of "Double First-class" construction universities and disciplines, and *** 147 universities were selected. 1. Xiangtan University has built the first batch of national applied mathematics centers in China-Hunan National Applied Mathematics Center, national key disciplines, disciplines with national defense characteristics, the 2.0 base for training top students in basic disciplines of the Ministry of Education, and key laboratories of the Ministry of Education.

2. The mathematics discipline of Xiangtan University has advanced collectives in the national education system, Huang Danian-style teachers in national universities, national teaching teams and innovative teams of the Ministry of Education. He has undertaken the key projects of the national key R&D plan and the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award and the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education.

3. Xiangtan University has trained a large number of outstanding talents in the field of mathematics, including academicians Yuan Yaxiang and Zhou Xiangyu, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and Changjiang Scholars 10.
