How to evaluate Ma Huiyuan's Bach of the Northerners?
Ma Huiyuan was a doctoral student majoring in computer science when she wrote Bach of the Northerners. Of course, she writes programs, but she does research in computational science. She is not a professional programmer, just like an economist can do accounts, but she is not an accountant. Ma Huiyuan played the piano since she was a child. She didn't give up when she went to college in Tianjin, but developed to play the organ in the United States, so she gave it a nickname called the organ. If she must be labeled, then she is a piano player first, and then a computer scientist. I can't guarantee that she has never associated Bach with computers (or mathematics), but I can't read any clues from this book and listening to Bach or any of her music essays on a summer night. I only saw a pure and gentle classical music lover who described his feelings about classical music with full feelings, wisdom and excellent writing style. That's all.
