Emperor Taizong was very unhappy when he heard the news. He said, "What will you do if the eclipse doesn't appear?"
Li said to him, "If there is no solar eclipse, I would like to die."
On the first day of the first month, the emperor came to the courtyard to wait for the result and said to Li, "I want you to go home temporarily so as to bid farewell to his wife and children."
Li said to him, "Not yet." Then he wrote a sign on the wall: When the sun shines here, a solar eclipse will appear.
The solar eclipse did occur, and the time was exactly the same as that told Li.
Li is not only good at astronomy, but also a famous mathematician. In 656, Li and others named it "Zhou Qing"? Chapter 9 Arithmetic? Island computing? Sun Tzu's calculation? Xiahou Yangjing? Compose? Zhang Qiujian suan Jing? Five Cao Jing? Five classics arithmetic? The book 10 by Yoshitani Shujing was annotated as the textbook of imperial academy Calligraphy Museum.
