To tell the truth, I have been teaching for almost 30 years, and I have been a dean for 20 years. How can I be a qualified dean? I still have some experience in this problem. Although I dare not say that I am an excellent dean, I think I am competent. In my mind, a good dean should be these five roles:
First, become a "generalist" in teaching.
The dean is responsible for the teaching work of the school and should become an expert in teaching, so as to gain the trust of teachers.
Have a solid basic teaching skills. The director's basic teaching skills are the benchmark of the school. Ask the teacher how to do basic skills well and be confident.
There is a joke: a basketball coach said that the students' shooting posture was incorrect, so he demonstrated it and failed to hit the basket. He used his quick wits to say, look, that's how you voted. Seemingly clever, the students are unconvinced.
When I was in normal school, the blackboard newspaper written by the dean every month always amazed the students. Beautiful official script, as well as illustrations.
Teachers should not only practice basic teaching skills. Become an expert in information technology.
Some teachers are doing an open class, and the electronic daily class suddenly becomes silent and the video becomes dumb. I'm sweating with anxiety. What's the use of complaining that the teacher didn't plan ahead at this time? If the director is proficient in information technology and can solve problems quickly, this is the best result.
Create your own professional skills.
A person's achievement is determined by his professional height.
20 13 my goal is to become a professional history teacher. Because I used to teach mathematics and Chinese in primary schools, 20 1 1 transferred to junior high school, and my major was gone. I'm a stranger to junior high school subjects.
What should we do? We must become managers with professional knowledge. I have zeroed myself out. It took me five years to become an associate senior teacher of history, from being familiar with the textbooks of history, to imitating the self-cultivation of classroom teaching by famous historical teachers, and then to reading history knowledge professionally.
Has its own teaching characteristics.
A good manager must have his own teaching characteristics. Do something as easy as lifting weights, get twice the result with half the effort in teaching, and take a walk to deal with class problems.
Such a tutor is an example for everyone to learn.
Have multi-disciplinary teaching experience.
The dean is in charge of the school's curriculum arrangement, often close to the advantages, and teaches familiar courses by himself, which not only saves the time of preparing lessons again, but also makes it easy to make achievements.
As far as teacher professionalization is concerned, this situation is of course very important. If the dean can specialize in many things, it must be different.
As a teaching director, attending lectures, participating in subject teaching and research, and having teaching experience in different subjects, you will be very relaxed. Otherwise, like me, the history teacher goes to English class for 40 minutes. In the end, he only understood the word "hello", which can be described as "on pins and needles" in one word. Do you dare to comment on other people's classes? What can you say? How dare you say that the English teacher's Mandarin is very standard?
If there is an opportunity, try different subjects, especially the worst subjects in school. Only by in-depth understanding can we understand the crux of the problem, get first-hand information, and then put forward some good suggestions for improvement. Instead of an armchair strategist, Masu.
Second, become a "planner" for teachers' growth.
Become a trainer for new teachers. When a new teacher joins the job, it is necessary to establish a fast training channel so that the new teacher can grow up quickly within one to two months. These two months are crucial.
Who will train? Training what? How to train?
A mechanism must be formed.
Huawei is very powerful, and the most important thing is the cultivation of new people. No matter what your major is, it takes two months to get used to the work and get started quickly.
I'll arrange for a middle-aged teacher to help me when a new teacher joins the job. Who is responsible for teaching materials and teaching routines? Who will talk about classroom teaching and management, and which teacher is in charge of student management skills? There are specific teachers in charge of special tasks, and I want to see the effect. I am usually responsible for the popularization and growth planning of the new teacher post evaluation and employment policy.
There is a school and an unwritten tradition. The subject teacher of the last school year was responsible for training new subject teachers. For example, I taught Chinese in Grade Three last year, and I am responsible for the training of Chinese teachers in Grade Three this semester. This method is really good and worth popularizing.
Become a growth promoter for middle-aged and elderly teachers. We can call her a middle-aged teacher no matter how old she is. With certain teaching experience and work experience, it is easy to slack off on work attitude. These teachers should be the cultivators and leaders of young teachers in the school and serve as the heads of subject teaching and research. At the same time, they must become learning benchmarks for young teachers. We should be good at discovering their good practices and experiences in teachers' ethics, class management and classroom teaching, and help them collect and sort out their experiences and achievements and promote them throughout the school.
Third, become a "magician" in teaching and research.
Become a fish that can stir a pool of spring water. The teaching and research atmosphere of the school needs someone to incite and create.
Dean is duty-bound.
Can continue to work miracles. To revitalize teaching and research, teaching directors need to innovate teaching and research forms constantly. A teacher once said that 30 years ago, the teaching and research of the school was to attend classes and then evaluate them, and this is still the case today. Just like three meals a day, steamed vegetable soup will inevitably turn people off.
So the dean should be good at planning. What should be the focus of teaching and research in our school every semester and how to change the form.
Fourth, be the "forerunner" of teachers' professional reading.
The dean must read more books, so as to lead the teachers to read. Confused new teachers, teachers who encounter career bottlenecks and teachers who are tired of their jobs all need to improve and get rid of themselves through reading. Dean is not only the forerunner and leader of reading, but also the supervisor and spur. Teachers who can learn actively are as scarce as national treasures and giant pandas. We need to constantly urge them to complete their self-cultivation through reading.
As a group, teachers are not convinced of each other. If you don't have two brushes, you really don't want to take this job of touching porcelain.
5. Become a "matchmaker" in education and scientific research.
Sometimes, the teacher will ask me some very professional questions, and I am not omnipotent. But I know, in my circle, who has the most say in this respect. I know whose class management is the most distinctive, whose computer skills are the best, and who has research results in mathematics. So, a teacher asked me to be a "matchmaker" and asked him to consult more professional teachers. If I can't answer this question, someone will.
Excellent classroom teaching ability, which is the basis of examining directors.
The dean is often a planner, planning the growth route for young and middle-aged teachers.
The teaching director plays such a role, paving the way for every teacher to move forward smoothly on the road of professional growth.
In fact, this is my ideal teaching director and my goal.
