Professor Feng Zuxun was "drunk" in class, but he never made a mistake. Why was he praised?
When it comes to the late Qing Dynasty, probably many people will think of ignorance. In fact, China's contact with modern western science began in the late Qing Dynasty. Since the thirty-first year of Guangxu, the imperial examination system was completely abolished in Qing Dynasty, and Shi Jing University Hall was established according to the reform. Although the reform movement of 1898 later failed, Shi Jing University Hall remained. Moreover, Shi Jing University Hall and Normal University Hall were established, among which Normal University Hall was later Beijing.

Shi Jing University is modeled after the western education system. It is to learn modern physics, chemistry and other knowledge according to different curriculum settings. Of course, as the foundation of all disciplines, mathematics is the most important tool. In the modern history of China, there are many famous mathematicians, such as Hua and Chen Jingrun. However, if we want to talk about the person who created the foundation of modern mathematics in China, it is undoubtedly Feng Zuxun.

Feng Zuxun, 1880, from Hangzhou. His family is a relatively enlightened petty bourgeoisie, so he is not very rich. Feng Zuxun was educated in Chinese studies since he was a child, but his father believed that in such an era, mastering more knowledge is the foundation for settling down in the future. Therefore, with the support of his family, Feng Zuxun was admitted to the Teachers College of Shi Jing University. We also know the education of Shi Jing University and traditional Chinese studies.

Fortunately, Feng Zuxun was clever, and later he was lucky enough to get the qualification to study abroad. During his study in Japan, Feng Zuxun mainly studied mathematics. After returning to China, Feng Zuxun was appointed as a professor of science in Peking University. At that time, there was no special department of mathematics in Peking University, which was established one year after Feng Zuxun returned from studying abroad. At that time, Feng Zuxun was appointed as the main professor of the Department of Mathematics, and later served as the head of the Department of Mathematics in Peking University, which explored a new way for mathematics education.

But what is more worth mentioning is that Feng Zuxun is very informal and friendly to many people, and he is quite a scholar and likes to drink. Of course, after drinking, he is not an alcoholic. Although he often feels tall, Feng Zuxun has never been confused. It is said that Feng Zuxun once went to give lessons to students after being drunk, but there was no mistake in the middle, which shows his academic rigorous style. However, occasionally I get confused. It is said that I once met Lu Xun in the street. They exchanged greetings and left. Just as they were about to leave, Feng Zuxun suddenly stopped Lu Xun and gave him 20 yuan.

When Lu Xun was in a daze, Feng Zuxun said that he owed you 20 yuan for playing mahjong last time, and now he will pay you back. Lu Xun was at a loss. I didn't play cards with you. Feng Zuxun realized that he had given it to the wrong person and got the money back. In a word, Feng Zuxun is very capable in modern mathematics education. At least, the mathematics education he initiated was inherited by later generations. Unfortunately, most colleges and universities moved to the south during the Anti-Japanese War. Due to physical reasons, Feng Zuxun was criticized for not following, but the students who still wanted to move south still pointed south before 1940 died. It's a pity that the people who mentioned him have changed.
