Wang Dake, the most self-taught candidate.
The youngest self-taught candidate in China was admitted to Peking University Graduate School. Among the huge army of self-taught candidates in China, the youngest one is Wang Dake: he only attended primary school for one month, was admitted to undergraduate course at the age of 9, and was admitted to graduate school at Peking University at the age of 14.

In March, 2004, Long Yuan 14-year-old Wang Da was awarded the Master of Basic Mathematics in Peking University Institute of Mathematics in 2004 with excellent results. Therefore, he became the youngest graduate student in the history of Peking University and was called "prodigy" by many domestic media.

While many people are amazed, it is inevitable to wonder: how did he complete his primary and secondary education? Does he have an undergraduate diploma?

Wang Dake was gifted, but he was sickly from childhood and didn't go to the first grade of primary school until he was 8 years old. Not long after he entered school, he actually suggested to the class teacher: take the sixth grade math test directly! In the eyes of doubt, he finished the sixth grade math test paper within the specified time and got full marks.

It turned out that under the guidance of his parents and hard self-study, he could have finished primary school mathematics at the age of 6, junior high school mathematics at the age of 7 and senior high school mathematics at the age of 8. He used the math test with the perfect score of 150 in the college entrance examination and got 146.

From the age of 9, Wang Dake ended her formal school life for only a few months and began to take the self-study exam. By June of this year, Wang Dake had passed all the courses of mathematics taught by the undergraduate and the junior college, with 80 to 95 marks for specialized courses and 64 to 78 marks for public courses.

On May 2, 2004, Kloc-0, Wang Dake's graduation thesis "Establishment and Analysis of Mathematical Models of Infectious Diseases" won a high score of 85 points in the undergraduate thesis defense held by the School of Mathematics and Information Science of Northwest Normal University. The expert wrote this comment on his paper: the mathematical model in the paper is correct, the reasoning is clear and the language expression is clear. It is a pretty good undergraduate thesis.

Peking University Graduate School

On September 6th, 2004, it was almost half a month since Wang Dake came to Peking University, and he was interviewed by many media inside and outside the school. "When I saw the newspaper, it caused a lot of trouble. I used to study, but later people upstairs began to care. " He said that after being interviewed by the media, great changes have taken place in the surrounding environment, which also brought him a lot of trouble.

Wang Dake's father is also worried that the children's media interviews will affect their studies. "There is a lot of pressure to study now, and media interviews will be bad for their growth and study." His father has been in Beijing for half a month, worrying that Wang Dake will not take care of himself. At the same time, it also limits the time spent with Dake, and only spends about half an hour with Wang Dake at around 7: 00 every night. "I just want to exercise his independence."

It is a great wish to go to Peking University for postgraduate study. This time he is a graduate student of Peking University. Originally, he wanted to prepare for the official exam next year, but he didn't expect to pass it smoothly. Considering that Wang Dake is still young, the School of Mathematics has specially made a training plan for him.

Wan Guilan

Wan Guilan, a 38-year-old mother of two children, has to take care of her mother-in-law, take care of her children and do housework. She also has to worry about crops on 18 mu of land, as well as raising cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens.

Since 1993, Wan Guilan, who has only junior high school education, has signed up for the self-taught examination, thus embarking on a road full of hardships. Working in the field during the day, after putting her daughter to bed at night, she squatted on the kang and studied until late at night; There are many study notes written on the paper, which are posted around the kang and in front of the stove to facilitate learning at any time when cooking and doing housework. Her husband's cold eyes and her mother-in-law's incomprehension did not dampen her enthusiasm for learning. Two and a half years later, she got a diploma in law with an average score of 74.2 points. At that moment, she shed tears with excitement.

Since then, she has successfully obtained a bachelor's degree in law while the iron is hot. Therefore, she was rated as the "model of the first excellent self-study exam candidates of the National Self-study Achievement Award Fund".

Although Wan Guilan still lives the life of an ordinary peasant woman, her life has quietly changed because of the self-study exam. In recent years, Wan Guilan volunteered to provide legal advice, civil mediation, dispute resolution and other services to nearby farmers at least 100 times. She published more than 100 novels and essays in newspapers and magazines, and also published a long documentary novel "Linshui River".

As a peasant woman with a bachelor's degree, Wan Guilan was frustrated repeatedly in her job search. However, she said, "My history is a history of peasant women fighting for their legitimate rights and interests. Although I have been eliminated by several job applications, I am still very determined. " 14-year-old children have been admitted to graduate schools in famous universities, while the elderly who are close to ancient times insist on self-taught universities, and the peasant women have obtained university diplomas. ...
