Why is Hua's math so good?
Hua,19101012, a native of Jintan, Jiangsu. His father makes a living by running a grocery store. When he was young, he liked to use his brain. Because he is too absorbed in thinking, he is often nicknamed "Luo nerd" by his peers. After he entered Jintan junior high school, his mathematical talent was discovered by teacher Wang Weike and cultivated as much as possible. After graduating from junior high school, Hua went to Shanghai China Vocational School, but dropped out of school because he couldn't afford the tuition, so he only had a junior high school diploma for life.

After that, I started tenacious self-study and reached 10 hours every day. It took him five years to finish all the math courses in high school and junior college. 1928, he was unfortunately infected with typhoid fever, and he survived under the care of his new wife, but his left leg was disabled. At the age of 20, he caused a sensation in the field of mathematics with a paper and was invited to work by Tsinghua University.

From 193 1, Hua worked and studied in Tsinghua University, and completed all the courses in the Department of Mathematics in one and a half years. He taught himself English, French and German. After publishing three papers in foreign magazines, he was appointed as a teaching assistant. 1In the summer of 936, Hua was sent to Cambridge University in England for further study, and published more than ten papers in two years, which was appreciated by the international mathematics community. From 65438 to 0938, Hua returned from a visit to Britain and served as Professor The National SouthWest Associated University. In a small attic like a cowshed on the outskirts of Kunming, he struggled to write the famous book "The Theory of Prime Number of Stacking Bases". 1March, 946, invited to visit the Soviet Union. After returning home, despite the restrictions of the reactionary authorities, he gave the youth a report on his "visit to the Soviet Union in March" in Kunming. 1946 In September, Hua went to the United States to give lectures at the invitation of Princeton University, and was hired as a tenured professor by the University of Illinois from 1948. Soon, my wife came to America with her three sons to reunite with her.

1949, Hua resolutely gave up her comfortable life and returned to the motherland with her family. 1March, 950, went to Beijing, and later served as the head of the Department of Mathematics of Tsinghua University and the director of the Institute of Mathematics of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the 1950s, under the academic atmosphere of letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend, he wrote a lot, and also discovered and trained mathematics talents such as Wang Yuan and Chen Jingrun. 1956, he set out to build the Institute of Computational Mathematics of China Academy of Sciences. 65438-0958: Vice President of China University of Science and Technology and Head of the Department of Mathematics. From 1960, China began to popularize the overall planning method and optimization method in industrial and agricultural production, covering 27 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, creating huge material wealth and economic benefits. 1978 served as vice president of China Academy of Sciences in March, and joined the Party the following year.

In his later years, despite his advanced age and lack of physical strength, Hua was still fighting in the front line of construction. He was also invited to give lectures in Europe, America and Hong Kong for many times, and was awarded honorary doctorates by Nancy University in France, the University of Illinois in the United States and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was also elected as a foreign academician of the American Academy of Sciences by a unanimous vote of 1984. 1June 2, 985, died of a heart attack while giving an academic report in Tokyo, Japan, at the age of 74.

The story of mathematician Hua

Hua (19 10- 1985) is a famous mathematician and educator in China. He is the founder and pioneer of modern China's research on analytic number theory, matrix geometry, automorphic function theory, multiple complex variable function theory and other typical groups. Born in Jintan County, Jiangsu Province. 1922, graduated from Renmao Primary School in Jintan City and entered Jintan Junior High School. After graduation, due to family financial difficulties, he could not go to middle school. In order to make a living, he was admitted to China Vocational School. Although tuition is free, I eventually dropped out of school because I couldn't raise food and shelter, and helped my father run a small shop at home. I still teach myself mathematics and regard mathematics as the goal of my life.

When I was in middle school, in a math class, the teacher gave the students a famous question: "I don't know what the number is today, whether the number of three plus three is greater than two, whether the number of five plus five is greater than three, and whether the number of seven plus seven is greater than two." What is the geometry of things? " While everyone was thinking, Hua stood up and said, "23". His answer surprised the teacher and won his praise. From then on, he fell in love with mathematics.

After finishing the first grade of junior high school, Hua dropped out of school because of his poor family, so he had to stand in front of the counter for his parents, but he still insisted on teaching himself mathematics. Through his unremitting efforts, his paper "Why can't the solution of Su Jiaju's algebraic quintic equation be established" was discovered by Professor Xiong Qinglai, head of the Department of Mathematics of Tsinghua University, and invited him to Tsinghua University; Hua was hired as a university teacher, which is unprecedented in the history of Tsinghua University.

1In the summer of 936, Hua, an outstanding mathematician, was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University in England for two years. At this time, the news of the Anti-Japanese War spread all over Britain, and he returned to the motherland with strong patriotic enthusiasm to give lectures for The National SouthWest Associated University.

China attaches great importance to the direct application of mathematical methods in industrial and agricultural production. He often goes deep into factory guidance, popularizes the application of mathematics and writes popular science books. Hua has also set a shining example for young people to become self-taught. He is a self-taught mathematician without a college degree. He said: "I am not afraid of difficulties and study hard. This is my main experience in learning mathematics well." "The so-called genius is to rely on unremitting efforts."

When Hua was in junior high school, he met Wang Weike and Miss Li, who appreciated his mathematical talent, and carefully guided and trained him. Therefore, it laid the mathematical foundation of China. In the Republic of China 18, Wang Weike was appointed as the principal of Jintan Junior High School, invited Huawei's clerk, and the following year invited him as the math teacher of Grade One. Wang Weike was criticized for this and angrily resigned as the principal. Fahrenheit failed to teach in the end, but he worked hard at self-study. And began to write mathematical papers and submit them to magazines. His famous work is why Su Jiaju's algebraic quintic equation can't be established, which was published in Science magazine. Therefore, this article was appreciated by Xiong Qinglai, head of the Department of Mathematics of Tsinghua University, and he was hired as the library assistant of the department. At that time, Tsinghua Mathematics Department was full of talents, and Xiong Qinglai, Yang Wuzhi and Sun Guangyuan, as well as foreign mathematicians Jacques Hadamard and norbert wiener all favored Fahrenheit and gave him important guidance and help.

In 22 years, Tsinghua hired him as a teaching assistant to teach calculus. In 24 years, Tsinghua University promoted Huawei teachers again. In 25 years, he went to Cambridge University as a visiting scholar on the recommendation of Xiong Qinglai. In 27 years, after returning to Tsinghua, Peking University and Nankai, Tsinghua broke the system three times and hired him as Professor Tsinghua.

During the UN General Assembly, Hua carried out arduous teaching and research work, and together with Xu, he was called the "three outstanding figures" in the Department of Mathematics. In this issue, the famous book "The Theory of Prime Number of Stacking Bases" won the first prize of natural science at the first academic review meeting of the Ministry of Education. Einstein wrote a letter saying, "Your discovery has opened an important source for future mathematics." In the spring of 1935, he visited the Soviet Union at the invitation of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. In autumn, he visited America at the invitation of Princeton University. Both the University and the University of Illinois were willing to give him a higher professional title and high salary, but he resolutely gave up and returned to Tsinghua to teach.

Since then, while insisting on academic research and education, he has also engaged in academic activities and scientific knowledge popularization activities at home and abroad. 1June, 985 12, in an academic exchange activity in Japan, he "died gloriously at the post of science forum" at the age of 74.

Hua used to say before his death, "People have more education than I do, and I have to spend twice as much time to remedy my shortcomings, so I have to work more than 12 hours a day before I can feel at ease." He was like this when he first entered Qing University, when he was a teaching assistant, when he was a professor, and after he became famous in the world. Therefore, genius comes from hard work. In order to save public funds, when he went to Cambridge, England at public expense, he did not study for a doctorate, but became a visiting scholar. Because he is only paid for two years at public expense, as a visiting scholar, he can read more mathematics freely. He has no problem getting a doctorate in every paper. So at that time, the famous Cambridge teacher G·h· Hardy said, "Hua was the first oriental who didn't want a Cambridge degree."

Hua is also a mathematics educator, who has trained a large number of outstanding mathematicians such as Chen Jingrun, Lu Qikeng, Yang Le, etc. In order to cultivate the younger generation, he has compiled some extracurricular reading materials for middle school students.
