There are 84 students in Class One and Class Two every five years, and 58 students in Class One and Class Two every five years. How many students are there in each class?

5/8 of Class One and 5/8 of Class Two are: 84*5/8= 105/2.

Class 1 is 5/8, Class 2 is 3/4, and there are 58 people in all.

So 3/4 of Class Two is more than 5/8 of Class Two: 58-105/2 =11/2.

That is, there are11/2/(3/4-5/8) = 44 people in Class Two.

Class one has: 84-44=40 people.

Method 2, equation solving:

Suppose there are x people in a class of five years. Then class two has 84-X.

5/8x+3/4(84-x)=58

5/8x+63-3/4x=58

3/4X-5/8X=63-58

x=40

That is, there are 40 people in class one and 84-40=44 people in class two.
