Word formula editor tutorial: basic knowledge of formula editor
First, introduction.
Formula Editor is a special edition of Mathematical Type Formula Editor of Design Science Company, which is customized for Microsoft applications.
With the Formula Editor, you can create complex formulas by selecting symbols from the toolbar and typing variables and numbers. When creating a formula, the formula editor will automatically adjust the font size, spacing and format according to the mathematical typesetting convention. You can also adjust the format and redefine the automatic style in your work.
You can insert more than 150 mathematical symbols by using the buttons on the top line of the formula editor toolbar. Many of these symbols are not found in standard symbol fonts. To insert a symbol into a formula, click the button in the top row of the toolbar, and then click a specific symbol in the palette displayed below the button.
The buttons in the bottom row of the toolbar of Formula Editor are used to insert templates or structures, including symbols such as fractions, roots, sums, integrals, products and matrices, and various paired symbols such as fences or brackets. Many templates contain slots (spaces for typing text and inserting symbols). There are about 120 templates on the tool board, which are displayed in groups. You can create complex multilevel formulas by nesting templates (inserting templates into the slots of another template).
"Microsoft Formula 3.0" Formula Editor is not a component installed by default in Office. If you want to use it, you should select "Custom Installation" when installing, and select Install Formula Editor.
Second, the insertion method of the formula.
1. Click the mouse where you want to insert the formula.
2. Click Insert-Object in the menu bar, as shown below:
3. In the new option of the object window, find and select Microsoft Formula 3.0, and click OK, as shown in the following figure:
4. The edit box and formula toolbar of the formula editor will appear. First, select the symbol or template to be input in the toolbar (when the mouse moves to the button in the toolbar, the symbol or template name of the current button will appear; And the symbol or template description appears at the bottom of the word window), and then you can enter the formula in the edit box, as shown below. Please continue to learn the following tutorial for the input of specific examples.
Word Formula Editor Tutorial: Insert Fractions
Let's give an example to illustrate how to insert a fraction.
1. Click the mouse where you need to insert the formula, insert the formula, open the formula editor, click the second template button in the toolbar, and then select the first score template, as shown below:
2. At this point, the cursor has been flashing at the molecule, as shown in the figure below:
3. Enter "4" directly, and then press the Tab key on the keyboard to make the cursor jump to the input box of the denominator, or click the mouse directly on the input box of the denominator, as shown below:
4. Enter "5" to complete the score input, and then click the mouse in the editing window of word to return to the editing window of word, and the formula insertion is completed. As shown in the figure below:
Word formula editor tutorial: insert radicals
The following example shows how to insert radicals.
1. Click the mouse where you need to insert the formula, insert the formula, open the formula editor, click the second template button in the lower row of the toolbar, and then select the third radical template in the right row, as shown below:
2. At this point, the cursor has flashed inside the root symbol, directly enter "54", and then press the Tab key on the keyboard to make the cursor jump to the input box outside the root symbol, or click the mouse directly on the input box outside the root symbol, as shown below:
3. Enter "4" to complete the radical input, and then click the mouse in the editing window of word to return to the editing window of word, and the formula insertion is completed. As shown in the figure below:
Word Formula Editor Tutorial: Insert Fractional Function
Let's give an example to illustrate how to insert a function with a fraction.
1. Click the mouse where the formula needs to be inserted, insert the formula and open the formula editor. First, enter "y=" in the edit box, as shown below:
2. Click the second template button in the toolbar, and then select the first score template as shown below:
3. At this point, the score template appears in the edit box of the formula editor, and the cursor flashes at the molecular position, as shown below:
4. Click the second template button in the toolbar, and then select the third radical template on the right, as shown below:
5. At this point, the radical template appears in the edit box of the formula editor, and the cursor flashes inside the radical symbol, as shown in the following figure:
6. Enter "k" directly, and then press the Tab key on the keyboard to make the cursor jump to the input box outside the root sign, or click the mouse directly on the input box outside the root sign, as shown below:
7. Enter "3", and then press the Tab key on the keyboard to make the cursor jump behind the radical, as shown below:
8. Enter "+1" to complete the molecular input, and then press the Tab key on the keyboard to make the cursor jump to the input box at the denominator position, or click the mouse directly on the input box at the denominator position, as shown below:
9. Enter "X" to complete the input of the fractional function, and then click the mouse in the editing window of word to return to the editing window of word, and the formula will be inserted.
