According to international practice, the World Olympic Mathematics Competition in China is held once a year, and the participants are children aged 10 to 16, that is, seven grade groups from the third grade of primary school to the third grade of junior high school. The nature of the competition is a social welfare activity, and the purpose of the activity is to cultivate children's enthusiasm and interest in learning and loving mathematics. These activities are divided into three parts:

1. Regionals mainly reflect a wide range of participation. By setting a wide range of awards, most of the students participating in the competition are encouraged to learn mathematics, so as to realize the wide social significance of the competition.

2. The annual global finals mainly reflect the selection of high-end elites in the competition. Players who have achieved excellent results in competitions in various regions of the country gather together to conduct competitions, exhibitions and other related exchange activities. The significance of this activity lies not only in selecting the outstanding players of China Training Team to prepare for the global finals of the World Olympic Mathematics Competition, but also in strengthening the selection of the national finals of children's mathematical thinking training in China. Through closed intensive study and training, the players who have won the bronze medal or above will be eligible to form a representative of China District to participate in the World Finals of the World Olympic Mathematics Competition.
