Significance of School Motto of Mathematics and Statistics in Southwest University
The motto of the college is "Learn from the past and learn from the present, be a pedant and be a natural person".

There are two meanings of "Numbering the past and the present": First, Numbering has the meaning of regularity; the so-called "destiny" and "doom" of the ancients talk about regular phenomena, and all laws are connected with the present and the present. Pythagorean law, pi, relativity formula and other related mathematical theorems and formulas are concrete reflections. Second, the achievements of mathematics have developed with people's understanding of the objective world. Without understanding the history of mathematics, it is difficult to make new discoveries and creations. The pedantic "Heaven and Man" requires an attitude of learning and research: to study from all things in nature and from the actual life and needs of human beings. The latter is the motive force of the former, and the former is the source of the latter. Only with a good attitude towards study and research can we have a truly scientific mathematical spirit and achievements.
