Xuzhou, called "Pengcheng" in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province. Located in the northwest of Jiangsu Province, the southeast of North China Plain and the north wing of the Yangtze River Delta. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through the territory, and the two major railway lines, Longhai and Beijing-Shanghai, meet in Xuzhou, so it is known as the thoroughfare of five provinces.
Xuzhou is an important gateway city in East China, an important science, education and culture exhibition center in East China, and an important economic, commercial and foreign trade center in Jiangsu Province.
