What is mathematical thought?
There are three ideas as follows:

1. The content of students' mathematics learning should be realistic, meaningful and challenging. These contents should be conducive to students' active observation, experiment, guess, difficult reasoning and communication. Different expressions should be adopted to meet diverse learning needs. Effective mathematics learning activities can't be simply imitated and memorized. Hands-on practice, independent exploration and cooperative communication are important ways to learn mathematics. Because of the different cultural environment, family background and their own way of thinking, students' mathematics learning activities should be a vivid and personalized process.

2. The mathematics curriculum in compulsory education should be basic, universal and developmental, so that mathematics education can face all students.

Mathematics is an indispensable tool for people's life, work and study. It can help people to process data, calculate, reason and prove. Mathematical models can effectively describe natural and social phenomena. Mathematics provides language, ideas and methods for other sciences, and is the foundation of all major technological developments.
