Run "China University Preparatory Course" on the principle of openness.

When the conditions are ripe, students with particularly excellent grades may be exempted from taking the corresponding university course credits and corresponding courses after examination and confirmation by relevant university disciplines. Previously, middle schools such as the High School Attached to Peking University had already opened such courses in advance.

17 10/7 in the afternoon, Peking University held a news briefing, and officially announced that at the request of some middle schools in China, it cooperated with middle schools to set up "China University Preparatory Course" on a pilot basis. It is understood that in the spring semester of 20 13, some middle school new curriculum standard elective courses system will offer five courses in the first batch, which will be selected by students who have spare capacity in senior two, and a unified examination will be organized in July. The results of students' elective courses will be regarded as one of the important basis for comprehensive evaluation of independent selection and enrollment in colleges and universities. When the conditions are ripe, students with particularly excellent grades may be exempted from taking the corresponding university course credits and corresponding courses after examination and confirmation by relevant university disciplines. Previously, middle schools such as Beijing No.11 Middle School and the High School Attached to Peking University had already offered such courses in advance.

As Professor Liu Bin, vice president of Peking University College of Mathematical Sciences, said, middle school students have many advantages in taking university courses, including experiencing and understanding the contents of university courses in advance, which can prepare for better completion of university studies; Lay a foundation for rational choice of university-related majors in the future; Broaden your horizons, improve your thinking ability and explore the unknown world. However, in order to run advanced courses well and make them play the above role, we must always adhere to the "open principle"-the value of advanced courses lies in openness, openness to all students and independent recognition by universities.

In fact, long before Peking University, some colleges and universities had joined hands with middle schools to hold innovative experimental classes. Students who enter this class can take some college courses in advance as the basis for students to apply for independent enrollment in universities. The innovation experimental class has changed. On the one hand, some middle schools make up for students' overtime work in the name of innovative classes. On the other hand, innovative classes correspond to the independent enrollment of colleges and universities, which becomes a means for colleges and universities to "grab students" in advance, and also affects the fair competition of other students.

The author believes that the problem is not open enough.

There is no problem with the preparatory course of Peking University, which is clearly linked to the independent selection and admission evaluation of universities. This is similar to the advanced placement in American universities. Students can use AP scores to apply for universities, or they can be exempted from taking some university courses. However, from the perspective of elective courses in Peking University, it is quite different from AP courses. Poor operation is likely to become a one-man show of Peking University and a means to grab students.

First of all, this course is offered by a university in Peking University for middle schools, unlike the AP course provided by the college board. Obviously, a few students can take advanced courses in Peking University, unlike AP courses, many American students can take them.

Secondly, at present, Peking University's elective course seems to be only linked to Peking University's independent enrollment, so it is easy to link this course with Peking University's "circle students". On the other hand, AP has been recognized as a reference standard by nearly 3,600 universities in more than 40 countries.

In a word, the openness of Peking University's preparatory courses is very limited. Therefore, in order to make college elective courses play a role in promoting middle school education, we should improve openness and open elective courses to all middle school students by a social intermediary organization. At the same time, colleges and universities that enroll students independently all recognize the course scores (whether or not to recognize them is up to colleges and universities).

This has got rid of the one-to-one correspondence between the prerequisite courses and the university. According to reports, Peking University also defines the "China University Pre-courses" as an open system, and Peking University will actively contact Tsinghua, Fudan, Tianda and other brother universities to join this work. However, from the long-term development of this curriculum system, the author thinks that we should take the road of socialization and should not be dominated by one or several universities. When taking elective courses, students will inevitably ask a question: Can these courses only be used to apply for Peking University (or other schools), and will other schools recognize them? Undoubtedly, the more universities recognize this course, the stronger the vitality of this course system.

Similarly, China's self-enrollment entrance examination should have been a socialized examination, which was independently recognized by universities and participated by students. However, the college entrance examination has formed a binding relationship with universities, and it has mutated into several school groups to grab students, which is not only not conducive to expanding students' choices, but also to equal competition among universities. College preparatory courses should avoid following the footsteps of the joint entrance examination.

In addition, in view of the fact that China's universities have not yet established a perfect credit mutual recognition system, it is also a very realistic problem whether the credits of middle school students taking prerequisite courses can be recognized after entering universities. If this problem is not solved, the value of the preparatory course is still very limited. In this regard, Peking University only said, "When the conditions are ripe, students with particularly excellent grades can be exempted from taking the corresponding courses by reducing or exempting the corresponding university course credits after being approved by the relevant university disciplines." This is still true for Peking University, which is dominated by preparatory courses, and it is even more difficult to predict whether other schools will recognize it. Therefore, with the advance of prerequisite courses, we must also promote the reform of education and teaching management in colleges and universities, improve the credit system, increase the openness between colleges and universities, including mutual recognition of credits between colleges and universities, and even establish a free transfer system.
