Infinite scenery, climbing the peak of Olympic mathematics
This "Olympic number" is not another "Olympic number"
Q: What is the World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition?
International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the most influential discipline competition in the world, and it is also recognized as the highest-level Olympic Mathematical Competition. It is a world-class Olympic Mathematical Competition under the quality education system widely implemented in western countries. The first competition was held in Romania on 1959, and it has been held every year since then (only once in 1980).
The traditional IMO is an international Olympic competition for high school students. In the 2007-2008 season, the World Olympic Mathematics Competition Association added a youth (9- 16 years old) competition, which was hosted by participating countries in turn once a year. China became a member of IMO (Junior Group) for the first time in 2007, and formally introduced IMO competition system (Junior Olympics) to China.
Q: What is the difference between the World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition and other mathematics competitions?
A:
A, let more students get in touch with the real standard international Olympic math problems and problem-solving methods at home.
Instead of entering the global finals as before, this competition adopted the IMO competition system in China. This aspect is essentially different from other domestic mathematics competitions.
B, based on the current textbook knowledge, scientifically, professionally and normatively test students' application ability and degree.
Other math competitions increase the difficulty and complexity of competition knowledge. "Elementary schools learn junior high school courses in advance, and junior high schools learn senior high school courses in advance", with the theme of "health, coldness, strangeness and strangeness", is only suitable for a very small number of students with mathematical genius, which brings pressure to most students, violates the growth law of children and increases the learning burden. Moreover, the difficulty of our olympiad is similar to that of current math textbooks.
The content of IMO competition is not the difficulty of knowledge and the complexity of methods. Based on knowledge, it pays attention to the ability and degree of players to apply the mathematical knowledge they have learned, rather than increasing the difficulty of knowledge. This is fundamentally different from other domestic mathematics competitions in the past.
At present, there are many enrollment trainings and competitions in the market under the signboard of "Mathematical Olympics". Imagine that the training institution that calls "Olympiad" "Mathematical Olympiad" has carefully read all the officially published books on the market. How can they "preach and dispel doubts" to our growing students?
C, to examine students' application of knowledge to solve practical problems as the core.
Under the examination-oriented education, the way to select mathematics talents is score. In most cases, the score only represents the proficiency of applying mathematical knowledge, and does not mean that mathematical thinking ability has been optimized and trained, nor does it mean that mathematical knowledge has been applied. IMO competition is a comparison between people and standards, not between people. Its core is "applying knowledge to solve practical problems", which is also the core content of quality education.
D, have their own independent system and scientific evaluation criteria.
1. The World Olympic Mathematical Competition Association has its own team of experts, consisting of dozens of top Olympic mathematical experts from all over the world. A unified evaluation system and a unified teaching syllabus have been established. The authoritative and practical standard evaluation system and syllabus of the Olympic Mathematical Competition are not available in other "Mathematical Olympics" competitions.
2.IMO competition is scientifically divided into seven groups according to each grade (grade 3 of primary school-grade 3 of junior high school), instead of grouping like other "Mathematical Olympics" competitions.
3, have their own independent special teaching materials. The textbook Thinking Training is edited by experts and scholars such as Professor Lu, researcher of Institute of Mathematics and Systems of China Academy of Sciences, examiner of basic education textbook of Ministry of Education, and professor of School of Mathematical Sciences of Capital Normal University. It is a special textbook for the World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition (China District). And all other "Mathematical Olympics" competitions have no special teaching materials.
Q: Will the contents of the World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition be difficult?
A: IMO competition questions are international standard competition questions, which are put forward by the expert review committee of the National Organizing Committee and reviewed by the World Olympic Mathematical Competition Association. The content of IMO competition is to examine students' ability to solve practical problems by using what they have learned in textbooks, which is the premise and foundation of application, and does not advocate rote memorization and repeated application. It examines students' ability to apply what they have learned, strengthens knowledge memory, cultivates interest and produces effective accumulation of knowledge in the application experience, thus forming a learning-application experience.
Q: What is the necessity of IMO training?
A: The competition of quality education system focuses on the ability of students to apply mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems, which is different from the current study habits and methods of students. Domestic students generally attach importance to knowledge, ignore ability and have poor hands-on ability. Therefore, players with mathematical knowledge may not have the ability to interpret IMO standard competition questions and solve practical problems with their mathematical knowledge. In practice, some players can't adapt to the interpretation habit of IMO standard competition questions, so they can't answer the competition questions.
Therefore, IMO training is the premise to ensure that the contestants get effective results in IMO competitions, and it is also the premise for the contestants to master problem-solving methods and play their normal learning. For the players who take part in IMO competition under exam-oriented education, IMO training is a necessary process for them to take part in IMO competition, and it is also a necessary process for them to achieve good results.
Our IMO training adopts IMO international standard special thinking training materials, which are exclusively authorized by the World Olympic Mathematical Competition Association to be published by China New World Publishing House.
