The discipline of probability theory and mathematical statistics of Nankai University belongs to the Department of Mathematics and Nankai Institute of Mathematics. 1987 was rated as a national key discipline, and 198 1 was awarded a doctorate, with a postdoctoral mobile station. This subject was rated as the key subject in Tianjin 1993.

The main research directions of this discipline are information science, Markov process and its application, digital signal processing, mathematical statistics and so on, and most of the research work is at the forefront of the discipline development. For example, the basic theoretical research on the combination of probability, information, logic, computer and artificial intelligence in information science is groundbreaking at home and abroad. Since 1950s, the research on Markov process and its application has been in a leading position in China. In an important field, such as multi-user coding theory and modern cryptography, multi-index Markov processes, super-processes, stochastic differential geometry, nonhomogeneous Markov chains and their applications, spectrum-limited signal extrapolation and median filtering. In recent years, the research results have reached the international advanced level. Significant achievements have also been made in the fields of statistical diagnosis, group inspection in quality control and experimental design. The research work of this topic has a wide practical background, so it not only has important theoretical significance, but also has a wide range of applications in various departments of the national economy.

Since 1987, it has completed 10 scientific research projects and is undertaking 1 1 scientific research projects, most of which are related to high technology. Over the past six years, more than 80 papers/kloc-0 have been published in important domestic journals and international academic conferences, including more than 70 papers published abroad. Published monograph 10, compiled more than 20 teaching materials, won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the state science and technology commission 1 item, and many excellent papers.

Professor Hu, Professor Shen Shiying, Professor Wang Zikun are all academicians of China Academy of Sciences. They have active academic thoughts, high academic level, scientific research, leadership and organizational skills, and have frequent and extensive academic contacts at home and abroad. In addition, there are 3 professors and 10 associate professors. In recent years, the academic echelon has added 14 young teachers, including 7 masters, 4 doctors and 3 overseas postdocs. Since 1987, 88 postgraduates have been enrolled and 45 master's degrees have been awarded. Twenty doctoral students were enrolled and six doctoral degrees were awarded.
