Damocles
I wonder if Japan really has such a strange surname as Ishigaki. If not, then this "stone god" created by Keigo Higashino is really symbolic. Shi Shenzhe, as the name implies, is tall and strong. He is a high school math teacher and the coach of the school judo team. His expression is cold and abstract like his favorite math. If you don't understand the essence of mathematics, you won't understand the beauty of mathematics; Just like if you don't touch the heart of the stone god, you won't feel his surging under the ice.

In the eyes of classmates, the stone god seems to be born for mathematics, so that his appearance and personality are similar to mathematics. He always thought so himself, so he became expressionless and helpless, and got the nickname "Damocles God". However, just like the beginning of a mystery novel, everything may be an illusion before the end. Stone god is not a 100% pure mathematical idiot. His life is hard and he doesn't get much love. Few people care about him except mathematics and his own shadow, which also contributes to his indifference and loneliness. In fact, his heart is a desert of love, and despair makes him too cold to feel his body temperature. But that doesn't mean he is a stone statue without body temperature. Otherwise, he won't spend an extraordinary moment in that ordinary morning-he won't commit suicide because he lost his enthusiasm for life, and he won't give up the idea of suicide because of a woman's eyes. Therefore, the surname "Stone God", which is a bit of modern hip-hop style, is very heavy in the writer's pen, and it is by no means used casually or made up at will.

Finally, this desert seems to have never been swept by a cloud, and at an unexpected moment, it quietly dropped some rain and dew. This is enough, enough to wake up the desert nightmare, and the stone god is no longer a stone god! He thought he saw the shadow of happiness, but in fact he fell into the trap of fate. Huagang Shizuko, who broke the heart of Stone God, is not an angel, but a poor woman who experienced two failed marriages when she was young. She doesn't even know that tomorrow will be different from today. How will she give it to Stone God tomorrow? This pitiful and lovely unrequited love doomed the stone god to walk out of despair and go to tragedy.

The cloud of happiness soon dissipated, and the curtain of tragedy has been opened. When Huagang's mother and daughter were forced by fate to kill the illegitimate child's ex-husband, an evil drama was staged. In order to cover up the object of secret love and escape the punishment of the law, Shi Shen directed a tragedy of Li with his genius. In order to conceal the identity of the victim and create an alibi for Huagang's mother and daughter, Stone God not only dismembered and abandoned the victim's body, but also committed a shocking crime-killing a tramp posing as Amethyst's ex-husband. In this way, after careful treatment, the tramp's body became the body of Ji Shen, Fujian, and the time of the murder was changed from March 9 to March 10. Now, Huagang's mother and daughter are really safe. Then, the police unconsciously fell into the trap carefully designed by Stone God, mistaking an exposed murder case for another hidden murder case investigation, and found nothing. This is a trick of Stone God, and this is also a scam of Keigo Higashino.

From the perspective of suspense reasoning, the degree of professionalism of Suspect X is really unexpected. The story is so complicated but so simple that everyone who has seen it is extremely surprised and has to believe it. The two heroines in the story, Shi Shen and Amethyst, are also very successful.

The most amazing thing about Li's murder case is that even if the truth comes out, Shi Gao's plan can't go bankrupt according to legal procedures. Her mother and daughter can still escape the guilt of murder, marry Kudo Bangming, and live a happy life from now on, as long as Shizuko's conscience can get by. This is because it is impossible for the police to prove in a short time that the severely damaged bodies found are not from Fujian, let alone find the bodies that have been destroyed in Fujian for a long time. The law has a statute of limitations, and it is impossible for a case to drag on for a long time, let alone for a ready-made suspect to surrender. Once Shi Shen is convicted and brought to justice, even if doubts are found later, it is difficult to reverse his conviction and retrial, because this is Japanese law. It is this legal loophole that makes it difficult for Stone God's plan to be broken.

Therefore, whether justice can be done and whether the soul can be redeemed does not depend on the clever calculation of the detective, but on the conscience of the murderer. Finally, Amethyst did not live a happy life according to the instructions of the stone god, but resolutely chose to surrender and atone for the stone god who loved her with her life. So what impressed me most about this mystery novel is not the suspenseful plot, but the humanity of the hero and heroine. There are two sentences in the novel that surprised me: one is the question that Amethyst couldn't help but flow from her heart after learning the truth from Yukawa-"Why can't I be happy when so many people love me so much?" ; Another sentence is that when all the dust settles, "Stone God continues to roar, and KUSANAGI feels as if he is vomiting his soul". No matter who is in this story, you can't help touching these two sentences. In fact, the stone god's love tragedy for Jingzi is the "abnormal fruit" of love in the love desert. It is difficult for two people who want to love but can't love, and one who has been tortured by wrong love for a long time.

Commenting on his most proud works, Keigo Higashino said, "This is the purest love and the best trick I can think of". I don't object to what he said, because this story gives people this feeling, but I don't completely agree with what he said, because the trick of Stone God is the best, but his love for Amethyst is impure. If the killing of Amethyst is forced to get the fate of people, then the killing of Stone God is a manifestation of selfishness and indifference. He thinks he is killing for love, but he is actually killing for himself, because his love has never been detected by Amethyst, and he has not been recognized by Amethyst. He even stopped Amethyst from killing people. This kind of self-assertion looks great, but it's actually the poor guy's self-righteousness. As Yukawa said, "There is no useless gear in the world, only the gear itself can determine its own use." You can't ignore the life value of others just because you love someone.

The logic of the stone god is sophistry. The danger is that this argument is very marketable-every reader regrets the love between the Stone God and Jingzi, but how many people care about the lives of innocent homeless people? Is everyone unsympathetic? Obviously not. We sympathize with Shi Shen and Amethyst, and even forgive their crimes because they are the protagonists. We ignore the risk of death just because he is a silent little character in the story-saying that a small character is inappropriate is actually a decoration. Because he is the protagonist, the reader has a little emotional shift when he is immersed in the story-psychology calls it "psychological projection", so the reader can be more tolerant of the protagonist who is the murderer, seemingly sympathetic to the protagonist, but in fact subconsciously put himself on the role of the protagonist. Because it is a "decoration" that doesn't even have a line, readers will naturally never be able to face up to the existence of a small role psychologically, and the psychological projection effect is even more impossible. Even in the face of such great misfortune as innocent death, it is not easy to touch the strings of feelings. This selfish psychology based on primitive instinct often leads to such a situation when evaluating others: when the object of evaluation is a big shot, we are more likely to forgive their mistakes; Even the villain is willing to look for scattered moral glory from him and will believe his rhetoric of "having to do it". Having said that, readers should find that an excellent mystery novel is not only about suspense, but also about the subtlety of human nature-not only the humanity of the characters in the story, but also the humanity of the people who read the story.

Finally, I want to end this comment by refuting the last sentence of the last letter left by Stone God to Jingzi in the story:

"If you are unhappy, everything I do is in vain." (The last sentence left by Stone God to Jingzi)

"When you do evil in the name of love, it is doomed that your efforts are in vain. The person you love can't get happiness from sin, because her kindness is worth your love!" (I want to say to the stone god)
