Y- 1 = k x...k is the slope.

Substituting parabola y 2 = 2x, we get

2(y- 1) = k y^2

k y^2 - 2y + 2 = 0

A common point, then △ = 2 2-4× k× 2 = 0.

K= 1/2

∴ linear equation y-1 = x/2, that is, x -2y+2 = 0.
