Walter Rudin 1953 received a doctorate in education from Duke University. He has taught at MIT, University of Rochester, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Yale University. The main research fields are harmonic analysis and complex variable function. Besides this book, he also wrote two other masterpieces: Functional Analysis and Real Complex Analysis. These textbooks have been translated into 13 languages and are widely used all over the world. Famous schools that use this book as teaching materials include the University of California, Berkeley, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago.
