Yantai University, a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province and a high-level university in Shandong Province, was selected as the "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan" and "Excellent Engineers Education and Training Plan" by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Yantai City, Shandong Province. At present, the motto of Zhang Dianchen, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Duan Peiyong, president of the school, is "keep your promise, seek truth from facts, be thirsty for knowledge and practice".

As of June 2022, the school covers an area of 2 100 mu, with a building area of 1.0 1.98 million square meters. At present, there are 23 colleges, 75 research institutes, 23 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 14 categories authorized by master's degree, and 58 undergraduate enrollment majors, covering arts, science and engineering. The school was established in July, 1984. It was directly aided by Peking University and Tsinghua and founded by Weihai people in Yantai. According to the soft science ranking of colleges and universities, Yantai University ranked 2 14 nationwide in 2023, and its strength should not be underestimated.
