The fifth middle school in Yantai, Shandong Province began to be fully organized in the summer of 1956, and officially opened in the autumn of the same year at the former site of Renguang Road "Primary School Teachers' Further Education School". 1957 moved from Renguang Road to Xinyi Street in the second half of the year, located at No.327 Shengli Road, Zhifu District, Yantai City, and adjacent to the center of old Yantai in the north-Qishan Academy, which has experienced vicissitudes for more than 600 years, has a profound cultural heritage. On July 1988 and 1, Yantai No.5 Middle School was renamed Yantai Huaqiao Middle School with the approval of Yantai Municipal People's Government, and was identified as a provincial key contact school by the Provincial Education Commission. 1988 July 16 The inaugural meeting of Overseas Chinese Middle School in Yantai, Shandong Province was held. During the period of 1998, Huaqiao Middle School was partially converted into a boarding junior high school, which realized a major change in the school-running mechanism and achieved good school-running and social benefits.

In 2002, Yantai Huaqiao Middle School was restored to Yantai No.5 Middle School by Zhifu District Government. At the same time, Yantai Overseas Chinese School was established on the basis of the original Yantai Overseas Chinese Children's Primary School, which is a nine-year ordinary school. After several generations of leadership, the school has gradually become bigger and stronger.
