When the 82-year-old married the 28-year-old, his old friend was surprised to find that Yang Lan's bride and Yang Lan's ex-wife had strikingly similar faces.

Du Zhili, 1927, from Mizhi, Shaanxi. Du Zhili's father was Lieutenant General Du Yu Ming, a famous Kuomintang general.

Du has three sons and three daughters, named after "courtesy, righteousness, honesty, benevolence, courage and strictness", and is Du's eldest daughter.

Du Zhili received a good education since childhood, dabbling in art, dance, music and sculpture. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, Du Zhili was admitted to the middle school affiliated to National Southwest Associated University. To this end, he had a relationship with Yang Zhenning, who taught in the affiliated middle school.

Yang Zhenning, with a big forehead, was born a bully and was admitted to Tsinghua at the age of fourteen. The domineering gene comes from his father, a famous math professor and Yang's disciple, one of whom is Hua. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, Yang Zhenning followed Tsinghua University to study at the National Southwest Associated University. From 65438 to 0944, Dr. Tsinghua, 22-year-old Yang Zhenning, obtained the qualification of studying in the United States funded by boxer indemnity.

During the formalities of going to the United States, Yang Zhenning worked part-time as a substitute math teacher in the High School Attached to The National SouthWest Associated University, and established a teacher-student relationship with Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning, aged 17.

From 65438 to 0945, Yang Zhenning left The National SouthWest Associated University and moved to the United States, starting a legendary life.

After Yang Zhenning came to the United States, he first obtained a doctorate from the University of Chicago, studied under Professor Fermi, a famous physicist who invented nuclear reactors, and then went to Princeton University to study and work with Oppenheimer, the "father of atomic bombs".

Yang Zhenning regards theoretical physics as a medieval monastery in the field of science, which means monotonous and boring, and it is not easy to produce results. Yang Zhenning won't stay in Princeton for long.

At the expiration of one year, Yang Zhenning unexpectedly renewed his contract with Oppenheimer. The decision was made because Yang Zhenning met by chance in Princeton.

This accidental meeting, a person walked into Yang Zhenning's life, and she was Du Zhili.

Everyone will have some unexpected encounters in their life journey.

1949 On Christmas Day, Yang Zhenning and his friends went to a Chinese restaurant in Princeton for dinner, and met Du Zhili who also came here for dinner with friends.

National Southwest Associated University, Yang Zhenning and Du Zhili haven't seen each other for five years. In school, it is an ordinary teacher-student relationship, and Yang and Du almost forget each other. Du Zhili in a restaurant in a foreign town, compared with that year, has already faded into a graceful girl.

Why did Du Zhili appear in the United States thousands of miles away?

Shortly after Yang Zhenning left The National SouthWest Associated University, Du Zhili passed Fu Jen Catholic University and left Kunming. 1947, preparing to bring his sick father Du to the United States to study and treat diseases. However, it was the Armageddon between the two armies, and Du was trapped in China by Chiang Kai-shek. In order to appease Chiang Kai-shek's sweetheart, Song Meiling stepped forward and arranged for Du Zhili to study English literature at her alma mater, Wesleyan College.

Disembarking after the Huaihai Campaign, Du became a prisoner, and the Du family's source of life suddenly became a problem. In order to relieve the pressure, Du Zhili had to transfer to the free Saint Vincent Women's College to continue her studies.

On this day, on a whim, Du Zhili and his friends came to a humble street Chinese restaurant in Princeton for dinner, only to meet Yang Zhenning by chance, which made both of them feel incredible for the fate of crossing Qian Shan, crossing the ocean and meeting unexpectedly in a foreign land.

Many years later, when reviewing this encounter, Yang Zhenning said a sentence comparable to Zhang Ailing's "neither too early nor too late":

On the same day, Yang Zhenning and Du Zhili chatted happily, throwing their friends aside and chatting until the restaurant closed.

In the following time, the relationship between Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning heated up sharply. Yang Zhenning lost no time in proposing to Du Zhili. 1950 On August 26th, Yang Zhenning and Du Zhili got married in Princeton.

Prior to this, Hu Shi, who was on a business trip in the United States, made a special trip to find Yang Zhenning and gave him a message. Yang Wuzhi hoped that Yang Zhenning would get married as soon as possible. Hu Shi's figure has just disappeared for a long time, and Yang Zhenning has embraced the beauty in his arms, and his merits have been completed, fulfilling his father's wish.

After Yang Zhenning and Du Zhili got married, their career and life got a double harvest. On the road of scientific research, Yang Zhenning has made great achievements step by step.

195 1 year, Yang Zhenning and Du Zhili's first child was born. Yang Wuzhi was ecstatic and personally awarded this grandson a "Yang Guangnuo", hoping to win the Nobel Prize.

The 1950s was a period of great academic achievements in physics, which was called "the most exciting time for physicists".

Yang Wuzhi is keenly aware of Yang Zhenning's possible achievements.

In order to support her husband Yang Zhenning's work, Du Zhili, a famous woman, took the initiative to undertake all the housework. Even when her son was hospitalized due to an accident, Du Zhili chose to hide so as not to influence Yang Zhenning.

Du Zhili's support for Yang Zhenning is similar to Jiang Yang's support for Qian Zhongshu, another famous person in the Republic of China. Qian Zhongshu is also a little girl with poor self-care ability. Jiang Yang does all the housework. She is also a talented woman.

While silently taking care of Yang Zhenning, Du Zhili suffered a heavy blow: Du Zhili's 22-year-old brother Du Zhiren, who was studying at Harvard University, committed suicide by taking medicine in his dormitory because there was no hope of raising tuition fees. When Du Zhiren committed suicide, it was only one year before graduation.

Du Zhili reluctantly buried his brother, continued to take good care of Yang Zhenning's daily life, and tried his best to minimize the impact of his brother's death on Yang Zhenning.

Every time Yang Zhenning recalls Du Zhili during that period, he will be filled with emotion.

Du Zhili's hard work finally ushered in the harvest.

1957, Yang Zhenning, who was only 35 years old, and Li Zhengdao, who was 3 1 year old and also from The National SouthWest Associated University, were proud disciples of Wu Dayou, a physics professor in The National SouthWest Associated University, and won the Nobel Prize in physics that year for discovering that parity is not conserved in weak interaction.

This is the first time that China scholars have won the Nobel Prize.

When the news came, Du Zhili was so happy that Du Zhili turned 30 this year.

Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning went to Stockholm, Sweden to attend the award ceremony.

At the party after the award ceremony, Du Zhili became the focus of the audience. Her graceful dancing attracted many people's attention and fascinated everyone.

Du Zhili had a talk with King Kan Kan of Sweden. At the party, Du Zhili behaved gracefully and conveyed the elegance and beauty of oriental women to the whole world.

The careers of Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning reached a brilliant climax, and big and small surprises in life followed. Du Zhili's life course is engraved on every time node.

1958, Du Zhili's second son, Yang Guangyu, was born.

1959, his father Du was pardoned and placed in the Museum of Literature and History of China People's Political Consultative Conference.

Du Zhili's mother, Cao Xiuqing, wandered overseas and returned to China to reunite with Du Zhili's father.

196 1 year, Du Zhili's daughter Yang Youli was born.

197 1 year, Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning returned to China after many years' absence and were received by state leaders.

From 1972 to 1973, Du and Yang returned to China twice, and each time they were received and entertained by state leaders.

198 1 year, returned to China to visit Du, who was seriously ill, and Du also died in this year.

1986, Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning went to Taiwan Province for the first time to attend the teacher's birthday celebration ceremony and visited their relatives and old classmates. Du Zhili was called "a great woman behind a successful man" by Taiwan Province media.

In 2003, accompanied by her husband and children, Du Zhili died of illness.

Du Zhili and Yang Zhenning met and fell in love by fate. They spent 53 years together, traveled to every corner of Princeton, traveled to many countries in the world, and experienced changes and vicissitudes in China's modern history.

After Du Zhili's death 14 months, Yang Zhenning married Weng Fan, 54 years younger than himself.

I just don't know whether Du Zhili in another world should be happy or sad.
