I know this. Spend about 20 minutes before each class, read the book in advance, and then look at the topic, so that you know what will happen and what will not happen. There is no need to take a lot of class notes, mainly listening, thinking and digesting on the spot. Then if you don't know anything, you can ask your classmates or teachers, or you can look it up online.
