(1) distributed 100 pictures to 26 children, some split in two, some split in five, which just ended. How many people were given two cards and five cards?

Solution: Suppose that X people get 2 and (26-x) people get 5.

2x+5(26-x)= 100

2x+ 130-5x= 100

2x-5x= 100- 130

-3x=-30

x= 10

So 26-x= 16 (person)

A: Two cards 10 people and five cards 16 people.

(2) A truck can transport coal 20 times a day in sunny days and 12 times in rainy days. It has been transported 1 12 times for eight consecutive days. How many days has it rained these days?

Solution: If X days are rainy, then there are (8-x) days of sunny days.

12x+20(8-x)= 1 12

12x+ 160-20x = 1 12

12x-20x = 1 12- 160

-8x=-48

x=6

So 8 x = 2 (days)

A: There are 6 rainy days and 2 sunny days.

The centipede has 40 feet, and the mantis has 6 feet. At present, there are 60 centipedes and mantissa, totaling 1720 feet. How many centipedes and mantissa are there?

Solution: If there are x centipedes, there are (60-x) mantissas.

40x+6(60-x)= 1720

40x+360-6x= 1720

40x-6x= 1720-360

34x= 1360

x=40

So 60-x=20 (only)

Answer: There are 40 centipedes and 20 mantissas.
