Generally, the following steps are required:
1. First of all, when filling in the online application form of each school, there will be a page dedicated to filling in the information of referees, which is generally called recommendation or reference.
According to the requirements of the online application form, you may need to fill in the name, e-mail address, position, unit and relationship with you of the referee. E-mail address is the most important.
2. After that, the online application system will send an email to the recommender. The general content is: xxx is applying for xxx school and invites you to write him a letter of recommendation. Please submit a letter of recommendation to the following website. And attach the web page address.
3. After the recommender receives the email, he clicks on this web address (usually this web address is the only one assigned to this recommender with ID information), and then he can fill in the information and submit the recommendation letter. Some systems will ask some evaluative questions about the applicant on this page, such as: What's your score on this student's intelligence level? What is the score of communication ability? What is the scientific research ability? Wait a minute. Then the referee will be asked to upload a written recommendation letter. Click Submit, and the whole letter of recommendation is submitted.
In the actual application submission process, many teachers in China will let students write their own letters of recommendation, and then directly forward the received emails to students for them to submit themselves.

When submitting a letter of recommendation, friends need to know the following precautions:
1. Some teachers let students reapply for a personal email address (such as Gmail, QQ email address, etc.) to save trouble. In the name of the teacher, it saves the trouble of forwarding the email by the recommender. But I strongly advise you not to do so. Many schools have regulations (at least preferences) that the email address of the recommender must be an institution email address, not an individual email address.
2. Some online application systems will send an email to the recommender immediately after you enter the information of the recommender, while others will send an email after submitting the application.
3. Many e-mail systems will regard this kind of e-mail as spam. Please remind your referees to check spam. If you still can't receive the email, you can contact the network management of the school or company where the referee is located; If you still can't solve it, you can contact the company or school that provides this online application system; If it is still not solved, contact the school secretary; The last resort is to change the mailbox. Almost all online application systems allow you to change your email address after submitting an online application.
It doesn't matter whether the recommendation letter is signed or not. Few schools require your letter of recommendation to be signed, and even some systems do not upload scanned letters of recommendation at all, but let referees fill in the text box directly. However, a signed recommendation letter should be more formal. You can consider this problem yourself.
5. Prevent your referee from being uncooperative. At first, your reference promised to hand in your recommendation letter. But when everything was done, the referee changed his mind and ignored you. What should you do at this time? In addition to seeing whether the referee is reliable in advance, another strategy is to apply as soon as possible and reserve some time for yourself to deal with emergencies.
6. For the American master's application, the recommendation letter is actually not important. Most American admissions officers know what a letter of recommendation from a China student is. Rumor has it that the admissions officer doesn't read the letters of recommendation from China students at all. Even so, we have no reason to fiddle with letters of recommendation. Just prepare a letter of recommendation and submit it honestly, but don't spend too much thought on it.
7. When submitting the recommendation letter to the recommender, if you encounter some strange questions that you can't understand, you can check them before you answer them, or you can choose to answer them blindly. After all, the referee himself is not necessarily so experienced, and it is normal to answer one or two questions wrong. But you need to avoid three referees making the same mistake.
8. When you grade the referee, relax. There are very few people whose IQ, math ability, learning ability, basic knowledge, communication ability, writing ability, maturity, self-confidence, potential and analytical ability are all at the top of 1%. You're not that great. Don't look too fake. ...
