Xu Chenyang was born in Chongqing in 198 1. He has shown superhuman talent in mathematics since he was a child. He has been familiar with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division since he was four years old and has always been known as a child prodigy. Since he entered middle school, his math scores have been among the best. He was also selected to the Sichuan Mathematics Team with excellent results of 1998, and won the gold medal in the Mathematics Olympics in the same year, which laid the foundation for him to enter the national team. After that, Xu Chenyang, aged 18, was admitted to Peking University. He was well-known in the Department of Mathematics and was favored by Tian Gang, a professor of mathematics at that time. After only three years of undergraduate study, he entered the postgraduate course ahead of schedule. Two years later, he obtained the qualification to study in the United States and went to Princeton College, which is known as the "world mathematics center", to study for a doctorate in mathematics.
In 20 12, Xu Chenyang refused the generous treatment of MIT and resolutely returned to China, intending to contribute his own strength to China's mathematics. He chose to teach at Peking University. Since then, Xu Chenyang has won many awards at home and made many mathematical achievements internationally. He even won the China Prize for Future Science, which is known as the China Nobel Prize. However, on 20 18, Xu Chenyang resolutely chose to give up his domestic honor and decided to return to the United States to teach.
Xu Chenyang left three sentences when he went abroad. First, domestic mathematics papers are seriously falsified; second, domestic researchers are impetuous and eager for quick success; and third, domestic institutions are very serious in seniority. Xu Chenyang also made it clear that it was these three reasons that made him decide to return to the United States. According to the three sentences left by Xu Chenyang, it is not difficult to draw a conclusion that there are indeed many problems in the academic circles in China today, which is probably an important reason for the brain drain in China. At the same time, it also sounded the alarm for Chinese academic circles and had to make people think deeply.
