" Therefore, an important feature of Datong teaching is to mobilize teachers to compile teaching materials and teaching reference books. In 1930s, he co-edited Plane Geometry and Solid Geometry with Rong, and Hu Dunfu's New Middle School Geometry was approved as a high school textbook by the Ministry of Education. 1935 The Guidance of Integral Equation, which was jointly translated by He, Fan Huiguo and Gu Cheng, was listed as one of the earliest "university series" in China by the Commercial Press. In the 1940s, his English Collection (volume 1-5) was approved by the Ministry of Education as a textbook for junior high schools in China. In addition, he prefaces or revises many textbooks and teaching reference books. His work laid the foundation for the construction of early middle school textbooks in China.

The textbooks compiled by Hu Dunfu are generally tried by themselves, which is a combination of scientific theory and practical experience. Professor Li and Professor Huang, his students in the 1930s, recalled: "He has been teaching this course for many years, but he still has to prepare lessons before each class and never goes into battle carelessly. In charge of the Mathematics Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University 15 years (1930-1945). At the beginning, I started to recruit math undergraduates. These courses have played a certain role in broadening students' horizons and cultivating their independent research ability. Hu Dunfu realized that the guarantee of teaching quality lies in the improvement of teachers' academic level. Because of the busy administrative affairs and little consideration, he encouraged and actively supported teachers to participate in academic activities and conduct scientific research. Before the Anti-Japanese War, the teachers of the Department of Mathematics of Jiaotong University published more than 1 10 articles in various journals, which was the most fruitful department of the School of Science of Jiaotong University. The research content involves calculus, series, function and modern mathematics. Because of his rich knowledge, during the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he led the teachers and students to make joint efforts, not only offering all the courses required by his department, but also offering mathematics courses for other departments.

Among these 30 people, two others were not officially announced in the occupied areas at that time. Hu Dunfu was selected as one of two professors in several disciplines and occupied areas. In the list of records, Professor Hu Dunfu actually only has 1, which is a full affirmation of his teaching achievements in the past 30 years.
