It is a mass scientific and technological activity for college students all over the country, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and China Institute of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Its purpose is to stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning mathematics, cultivate innovative spirit and cooperative consciousness, and promote the reform of college mathematics teaching system, teaching content and teaching methods. The topics of the national unified competition are relatively concentrated in the form of communication competitions. It is usually held within 3 days at the end of September each year.
