Zhang Zhirang, male, professor, 1946, born in party member, with a master's degree. 1986- 1987 is a visiting scholar in the Department of Mathematics, University of Illinois, USA. At present, he is the tutor of master students of basic mathematics and applied mathematics in the School of Mathematics, and concurrently a commentator of American Mathematical Review (No.:0 17 165), a member of the American Mathematical Society, the deputy secretary-general of the Sichuan Mathematical Society, and the editorial board of the national series of teaching materials for information and computing science. Professor Zhang Zhirang is the seventh batch of academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, and enjoys special government allowance from the State Council.

research direction

1. Algebraic direction of basic mathematics

2. Development direction of applied mathematical cryptography and coding technology.

Professor Zhang Zhirang has been engaged in the research of basic mathematical algebra (especially infinite group theory) for a long time and is the leader of the research of infinite group theory in China. The research fields involve modules on inner and outer P groups and related group rings, radical properties of groups, subgroup structure of groups, Sylow theory of infinite groups and finiteness conditions of groups. Professor Zhang Zhirang once cooperated with the internationally renowned group theorist, Professor D.J.S.Robinson of the University of Illinois in the United States to study the outer -FA group, and obtained a complete structural description. The root theory of groups is established completely for the first time, and it is used to describe the structures of FC- groups, locally finite groups and periodic groups, thus a new method to describe the structure of infinite groups is obtained. At the same time, some research work has been done in algebraic coding. A project under study
