Scale = the distance on the map divided by the actual distance. This is a formula.

Scale =6cm (I measured it on the computer) divided by10km = 6:1000000 = 4.5: actual distance.

So the actual distance = (4.5 *100000): 6 = 750000 cm = 7.5 km.
