Minhang District belongs to Shanghai County in history. According to the cultural relics unearthed from Maqiao ancient cultural site, the history of Shanghai County can be traced back to more than 4,000 years ago. From the Yuan Dynasty to the 29th year of Yuan Dynasty (1292), Shanghai County was established. The Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty (1488 ~ 1505) was called Minxing, and the Zheng De period of the Ming Dynasty (15 12) was called Minhang.
In the seventh year of the Republic of China (19 18), Shanghai County belonged to Jiangsu Province. During the occupation of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and Shanghai, Shanghai County belonged to the pseudo-Shanghai Special City.
