It can be considered that grey science is developed on the basis of meaningful "grey system theory" and is a new discipline with great development potential. It can be said that "although the potential is dormant, it is also the Zhao of the hole", "the wind and rain are cool for several times, and the chrysanthemum is novel". Whether it can become a "third science" can also be studied, discussed and considered. It should be said that Bacon (known as one of the top ten thinkers in the world) put forward "knowledge is power", "non-herbs are weeds", "non-virtue is evil" and "non-good people are bad people", so there is no room for the third kind of science.
After I published the book "The Third Science" on 1998, a group of scientists voted for it, some voted against it, and some gave up their rights. In April 2003, Mr Fang Lu and Hainan Publishing House translated and published John Brockman's The Third Culture. In the introduction: "the emerging third culture", they said that "the achievements of the third culture are not marginal debates on the controversial mainstream conservative class, but these achievements will affect the lives of all people on this planet", and "the emergence of the third culture has introduced a brand-new cultural discussion mode.
Stephen Jay Gould, a famous professor at Harvard University, emphasized that "the third culture is a powerful concept". Steve jones, a professor at London University, is an active supporter of the third culture. He said: "The best way to evaluate the third culture is to ask: Was there more than one culture in the past? This is a core issue. " The answer is obviously yes. W.Daniel Hillis, the chief scientist of Thinking Machine, which owns 34 American patents, profoundly pointed out: "Scientists in the emerging third culture are not typical scientists, but people who are involved in a wider range of fields to some extent, and the problems they are studying now do not conform to their professional discipline structure." In fact, he is also like this. He "hopes not to play old songs and listen to the new Yang Liuzhi". He actually "hybridized" computer programs with biological evolution, and as a result, like giving birth to a child, a large number of patents were born.
In the book The Third Culture, other famous scholars who introduced "splendid riding and riding spirit" are: Professor george williams from Xi Shi new york State University; Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist at Oxford University; Professor Brian Goodwin from the Open University on the outskirts of London; Professor Margaret Gulis of the famous University of amherst, Massachusetts; Professor Roger Shanker, an important pioneer in thinking about how knowledge is expressed in the human brain in the United States; Known as the best philosopher today, Professor Daniel Dennett, director of the Cognitive Center of Tufts University; Nicholas Humphrey, Senior Research Fellow at Darwin College, Cambridge University; Steven Pinker, a professor of brain and cognitive science at MIT, said: He is regarded as the most important physicist engaged in the study of relativity besides Einstein and Professor roger penrose, a mathematical physicist at Oxford University; Professor martin rees of the Royal Research Society of King's College, Cambridge University; Professor Alan Guth of Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Professor Li Yinglin of Pennsylvania State University; Paul davis, Professor of Natural Philosophy, University of Adelaide; Ray gherman, honorary title winner of "Global Top 500", winner of 1969 Nobel Prize in Physics, member of the US President's Science and Technology Think Tank and honorary professor; Professor Stuart Kaufman of Santa Fe Institute, USA; Christophe Langton, the core leader of artificial life organization of Santa Fe Institute, Dorn Farmer, adjunct professor and founder of prediction investment company, etc.
What is shocking is that the ideas advocated by these "third culture" scientists are highly coincident with those of gray science.
Speaking of which, let me explain a comrade's problem first. Why should I label my theory "gray"? The editor of Guangming Daily is concise and easy to understand. "According to international practice, in cybernetics, information is often expressed in different shades of color. The information is sufficient, the confirmed (known) is white, the information is lacking, the uncertain (unknown) is black, and some confirmed and some uncertain are gray. " (See Guangming Daily199765438+February 22nd headline)
So, what is the essence of grey science? Editor's note: Gray science was founded in the early 1990s, and it is a new discipline covering social science and natural science. With dialectical materialism and grey mathematics theory as weapons, it profoundly reveals the internal motion laws of some things known and unknown to human beings in social natural phenomena. This is a knowledge that guides people to look at and deal with various problems in social life comprehensively and accurately (ibid.). I think that "learning is the Tao" and learning knowledge as big as beans is better than having mountains and gold, because the priceless treasure that will not be destroyed is learning.
