The College of Mathematical Sciences has two first-class disciplines, mathematics and statistics, and a postdoctoral mobile station for the first-class discipline of mathematics, a key discipline in Guangdong Province. It has a national teaching base for basic courses of engineering mathematics and a demonstration center for experimental teaching of mathematical technology in Guangdong Province, and is the central examination center of Guangdong Province for the national computer grade examination. There are three undergraduate majors (four directions): mathematics and applied mathematics (including mathematics and applied mathematics and statistics), information and computing science, information management and information system. Among them, mathematics and applied mathematics are national majors, Guangdong majors and Guangdong famous-brand majors, and information management and information systems are Guangdong famous-brand majors.

The College of Physics has two undergraduate majors, namely, applied physics, photoelectric information science and engineering (photoelectric information), and a master's major in physics, which enrolls graduate students in condensed matter physics, acoustics, optics and radio physics. In addition, it also recruits doctoral and postdoctoral students in materials physics and chemistry, solid-state electronics and circuits and systems.
